PS2 Game help...

For some reason, when I play my NBA Live 05, it freeze up on me in the middle of the game. I might play the dunk contest, three point shootout, and it dont freeze. It just freeze when I play a game. I looked at the disc, it got a couple of scratches on it. Dont seem to be no major scratches tho. Does anybody know how I can fix this disc? I dont even wanna go buy another one if its something that I can do to fix this.
