Kind of like most Gangsta rap.
Or..most rap in general. Most cats don't do 90% of the shit they say they do in songs.
I guess it gives kids in the ghetto a sense of coolness and shit...because their favorite rapper talks about slanging cake, so they do it. Not because they have to, but because it's the "cool" thing to do. Then they get fucked up in a bad drug deal and found out that their favorite rapper wasn't really doing it.

i dont know about you but either your brought up in the drug environment and you know how to hustle you got plugs etc etc.... the only way your gonna go kill someone and rape there eye is if your fucked up in the head.

I beg to differ, look at Brotha Lynch Hung. Talkin about eatin babies, bloody pussy and shit like that. He's still fuckin dope. It's called creativity in your music. But when you go around boasting that you're something you're really not, that's when it becomes a problem.
Edit: Also, that video about that kid who killed himself, that shit wasn't about what you listened to, it's about how fucked up your mind is and finding a creative way to output it. Or ya never know, it coulda been cuz of the music, I mean look at N8. If he loved Brotha Lynch as much as he's infatuated with Tech, he would be #1 on the America's Most Wanted List.
