And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

I understand, not being proud of the Government, but if you're not proud to be an American, and not able to distinguish the difference between people and government, you're are lost. I am proud to be an American, because I can enjoy this liberty while I still can enjoy it, you might as well live in a communist country.
no buddy!

Am i Proud of America? not lately.

Am i proud of being an American? not smugly.

Am i glad i get to live my life the way i do? sure, and I owe that to being An American.

lets just say i recognize the privelege being an American gives me, and i appreciate that and understand where it comes from.

but to walk around saying that im proud to be an American, seems to me, the same as saying ur "proud" to be white. Its redundant, unnecessary, and sometimes, if not usually smug and oppressive.

Saying you're proud to be an american and being a nationalist are on the same continuum, but not the same thing.

I am with TROLL on this one.

It's just a made up label anyway, so FUCK IT....if I live in the middle of nowhere, and I want to call it "nowhere", then I can be a nowhereican? It doesn't matter where you live, or where you're from...I realize that's not what this is about, but PROUD is a far stretch. If anything, people should just be happy to have the types of liberties we do, until our gov't takes them away, which wont' be long....but.....

to answer it, NO...I'm not proud. But then again, I dont' consider myself an American. I don't classify myself with labels that don't make a fucking difference. Democrat, republican, doesn't matter. It's just a word that you use to catagorize people you don't know, so you can judge them based on what you know, or think you know, about their culture.

FUCK THAT.

Ah yes. Communism. The one form of ecomic idealogy that all the atheist on the board seem to have faith in yet have never seen it work. Stick to socialism kiddies. It's much easier and realistic.

Hopefully true; i see kids starving on tv, people living in the streets, people executed for defying their government, people killed by disease by the thousands, women forced to cover themselves, and child labor sweatshops

And i live here where people die from heart attacks and eating too much, where people live on private jets, movies are released depicting the president getting killed, magic johnson living with hiv, girls gone wild, and little league

Some people worry about living, starving, being murdered. I worry most about my fantasy football team. If I were to liken countried of the world to heaven and hell, I would say we live in heaven most absolutley.

Go to Uganda or Kenya where people dont have anything. No cars, no cell phones, they live in run down shacks BUT the people are genuinely happy and laid back and love thier life.

Visit a village in Italy and you will see people that love to live. Food, wine, people, family all take priority over working a 9-5 and bombing foreign lands to sustain your way of life.

All this bullshit we strive for here, cars, houses, electronic gadgets, fancy clothes are all unnecessary bullshit to keep u from seeing whats really going on. The american way of life does not = happiness, and I truly believe that living a simpler life is the key to happiness. Material things do not matter, life is all about family and your loved ones and making the most out of what you have...

Real talk. This country is Capitalist, they WANT you to THINK that you NEED all of the shit they're going to sell you. NONE of the material shit we ALL have matters, cars, glasses, cd player, iPod, ps2, hats, shoes, designer shit...IT MEANS NOTHING. And if ANYONE wants to actually have a real, good life, and have it be genuine, we ALL need to stand up and do something about our fucking government. Otherwise everyone is a fucking pussy!

that was deep Fry! i agree! I think if people lived a simplier life, people wouldn't be in such a hurry to be at a certain place and parents would have enough time to spend with their children.

When i go to visit mexico, it's so relaxing because i don't have to worry about bills, my job, time, or anything else. Wish everyone had the opportunity to go on a vacation(twice a year) and get a break from their daily lives.
We have so many obligations in our lives, that if feels so damn good to get away from your hometown.

It's good to get out of the city atmophere from time to time. When i'm stressed out and feel like takin a little trip, I'll bring my wife & son with me and we'll go to the beach, to a park along a river, barbeque, hike Yosemite, or go on a bike ride. It's so relaxing to get away from it all, that there ain't nothing like it. I'm a nature type guy so instead of finding me at a baseball game(local games are fun to watch so don't get me wrong), at the mall, partying on a weekend night, or driving around town, you'll find me driving heading to the nearest lake or park. Don't get me wrong because i'm far from a tree hugger, i just grew up out in the country, so i look at nature and what Earth has to offer in a good way.
