pro tools requires hardware to run. You either need digi design or maudio hardware to run the software. As far as garageband is concerned, i fyou can find some emulator that emulates the mac os you might be in luck. If you can't I believe you might be stuck because I believe that app is a mac only app (don't quote me on that.)

Alternatives are cubase sx, cool edit, sonar, acid and live. I didn't include reason, because I don't think you can multitrack and record a full band or performance with that.

you dont know how to use fruity loops or reason???? you said you need somethin for beats....i dont see how you gonna make a beat in pro tools unless you have some equipment to make the beat then record /tracc it out in protools....and yeah garageband is an apple only program......

This is not correct. You can make a beat within pro tools and don't need a single piece of equipment besides the required interface or sound card.

In addition, the majority of VST instruments can be used in pro tools with the use of the wrapper.

Use the instrument or midi tracks and he should be all set within pro tools.

my bad i didnt think of vst's really and im not a big fan of protools so im not an expert on all its capabilities i was jus thinkin common sense wise for any recording program....

and if you know what you doin your teacher wouldnt know what the beat was made on unless he askin you to give him the actual files or somethin....i make beats wit fruity loops and dont no one say "aye thas a fruity loop beat" they think i make em on workstations......
