Cubase SX/Nuendo, VSTI's and a ton of sample-cd's. You CAN'T fail with that unless you just don't have the recipe to begin with!
That's the same set up I use. I see no reason to switch to protools.

Nuendo is the shit, how many programs do you know of that can mix and match different sample rates within a session?

I'm using Cubase SL, track count is only limited to the power of your computer. Plus the files are compatible over both PC and MAC platforms

Cubase/Nuendo can import/export OMF too so you can move sessions back & forth with Pro-Tools if you need to.

Pro-Tools has serious name recognition and a lot of people want to use it because it's all they know. They hear that so-and-so used PT so they want to use it. While a PT HD rig running v6+ on a G5 IS the shit, Cubase/Nuendo on a properly built PC will clown too.

Cubase SX supports importing/exporting OMF 1 & 2.
Version 2.0 Does, I'm not sure about any version before that. Cubase SL didn't and still doesn't have it, possibly on Version 2.0 coming out here soon

Remember: SL is a slimed down (feature-wise) version of SX. SX has it, but I guess SL doesn't. That's what Steinberg wants you to pay the extra money for.

^Those bastards! LOL!
It's all good, My neighbor uses SX, So I can Bring my sessions over to him, load 'em up, then Export as OMF when I need to(If I ever need to)

What's the difference between OMF1 and OMF 2? Is it for older versions of software, or for specific Software Programs?
