InFocus is definitely a good brand...your best bang for your buck tho...is gonna be Epson...they make projectors that are pretty damn good...and only like 700 brand new...

Yes, the same Epson that does the printers...

Well, not too familiar with the models, but you should definitely get a DLP projector if you're planning on doing TV and DVD on it...LCD projectors are more for business presentations, so the resolution isnt going to be all that great.

definitely go with the Texas Instrument's DLP technology. Maybe go with a projector with 720p resolution(1080p if u got the dough). As for brands, i have no clue who's the top brand manufacturing the best projectors.

Look around the internet, compare brands, prices and specs. Go to the Texas Instrument DLP website(google) and see what's in your price range. Read some reviews and get other people's opinions. Then before you even purchase anything off the net, have a look at the real thing at a electronic's store(you might even buy it there). There's stores out here in Sac & Bay that specialize in nothing but home entertainment. Ask the experts/salesmen at the store for their personal and honest opinion.

The magazine Home Theatre has an article atleast once a year comparing tvs, hdtvs, plasmas, projectors, dvds, speakers, receivers and etc.

If i had the space and home entertainment system i'd definitely be looking for a projector, but i'm not ready yet. Good luck on finding a projector for your needs.....

You get what you pay for. Gotta pay attention to the specs to. Lumens are important. They range anywhere from 2000 up to 6000 lumens for the brightness. Don't want to be lookin at some dull as image on the wall. a DLP projector will do you right. The catch 22 is the bulbs. You can pay 100-200 or more for a replacement, so try to make sure which ever one you get comes with at least one replacement bulb(they get about 40,000-50,000 hours). I was about to go that route and did a gang of research , just went with a big screen instead. The price of the bulbs killed me. As far as all those extra features you was lookin for , just select one that has a gang of different inputs and outputs....no sound built in...so check for speaker connections....maybe surround sound and a subwoofer instead of L and R if you gone use it for Home entertainment. Stay away from the ones with the built in DVD player. The drive may die before the light bulbs give out. So use an external one you can switch out whenever.

Go here to see a gang of em.

Oh yeah, a projector is one case where if you bought it at Best Buy, I'd definitely pick up the optional service plan for it ! They offer free bulb replacement for the length of the plan, which is 2 years ! Like Doberman said, the bulbs can be very pricey !

If you had your tv on 24 hours a day for 2 years that's only 17,520 hours. If you average 8 hours a day everyday it would take 13 years to get to 40,000 so it's really not that important.
