Production of the Lexus HS250h Hybrid Comes to a Whimpering Halt
May 17, 2012 at 4:03pm by Andrew Wendler

According to Lexus, the last examples of the maker’s HS250h luxury hybrid sedan rolled off the assembly line in January 2012. Based on the Euro-market Toyota Avensis, the HS250h debuted in 2009 as the luxury maker’s entry-level hybrid offering.

It’s hard to blame Lexus in cutting its losses with the HS. The automaker moved 6699 HS models in 2009 before selling an additional 10,663 in 2010, the vehicle’s first full year of sales. That number plummeted to 2864 in 2011, leaving Lexus with little choice but to end production at the start of 2012; by the end of March 2012 just 563 units were sold.

Lexus figures the CT200h and upcoming ES300h hybrids will more than fill any gaps in its hybrid lineup left by the departure of the HS250h. Now in its third and final model year, the maker estimates there are only 30 examples of 2012 HS250h sedans left on dealer lots. So if you’ve been on the fence considering the purchase of an HS250 hybrid, now is the time to jump down and get one.

Ugly ass, completely worthless car.

The reason hybrids don't sell well is because of their designs.

These frumpy, bulky, blank canvas spaces have no style.
