you really gotta scour the globe for tight samples so you don't loop some over used shit. Alot of the time I'll hear like a song on the radio that I'd love to loop cuz i never heard it before and I'll never get the chance cuz i don't know the name or artist of the song.

I looped some of runnin through the night by lionel richie and it came out pretty tight.

yeah you can say sampling artists like george clinton or zapp n roger is kinda played out and already used in allot of west coast rap songs but its still cool to fuck around with.......I'd say right now sampling of 80's songs are good cuzz they're rarely used for samples than old soul or funk records to keep it at that west coast sound....tv theme songs for looping is always interesting.....

i have a question...ive heard it many times before, but can someone tell me whos sampled phil collins "in the air tonight"?
Tupac used it for the song "Staring Thru The Rear View"
DMX used it on his first album.
A rock band called NONPOINT remade it a few months back.
There was someone else but I can't think of it.

Instead of relying on sampling someone elses music, why not learn how to be a better musician yourself?

I can duplicate any style/sound from any era and it's because nothing beats being a real musician. What's fun isn't looping someone else, it's when you can create something 100% original and people think it's sampled.

ZAPP & Roger Troutman, Teddy Pendergrass, you know, they've been sampled too much, and not just now but way back in the day, in like 96 especially. Although my favorite, I don't sample them because its not something different, same with Diana Ross. I try to sample shit that is rare, that I haven't heard before.
