A folks I need a little help I had my tv little over two years. I am now experiencing a problem with a vertical line that is about 2 inches thick running down the middle of the screen. It comes and goes. Mostly it is there. I purchased my TV with a Mastercard which extended my warranty of 1 year by an extra year. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to capitalize on that benefit by about 2 months. I would like to know if there's anything I could do to get this repaired

thanks

my friend had a 42 inch plasma tv by panasonic. and he would get these lil green lines vertical in the middle of the screen too. he asked best buy and they said if you got electronics and shit in front of the tv that it makes this stuff happen. and my friend had a ps2 in front of his tv so he moved it and no more lines.

Yup, Magnetic interference, happens all the time. Try to move metals, magnets or speakers away. My 62 Inch Big Screen Plasma, is fucked.

BULLSHIT.

Immunity From Magnetic Fields
Components such as loudspeakers that contain strong magnets can distort the picture if placed too close a standard TV. However, because plasma displays do not use electron beams, as conventional CRT displays do, they are immune to the effects of magnetic fields. Plasma displays can be placed in close proximity to any type of loudspeaker and not experience image distortion. This is also the case when crossing into the Southern Hemisphere. Boats may use plasma displays as they are not sensitive to the earth's magnetic fields.

All bad for me then.

Plasmas will definately give you a better richer picture not to mention the refresh rate is faster than lcd but lcds do last longer with fewer problems but I just dont like the picture they display. Some of the 1080p lcds look really good tho.

ok, since you were there at best buy and saw the before and after results. it worked thats why i mentioned it.
if it worked, that wasn't the problem you dumb shit.

do you not understand...

plasma does not use electronic shit....so there would be no interference...

REGARDLESS of what those dumb ass high school drop outs at Best Buy tell you. They dont' know SHIT. They just want to make their minimum wage and maybe some commission from some STUPID ASSHOLE that doesn't know ANYTHING about new technology.

If there are no electronic waves/beams in the whole thing, how the fuck is there going to be electronic interference?

That's like saying there's going to be a flood in the middle of a fucking desert you idiot.

Its called a "burn in image". This is the main problem with plasma's.

This guy doesnt sound like he is talkign about a buend imgage though, it sounds like some weird interference is going on. However, Tony is right.

LCD's are the shit. Plasma's have the best pictures, however, but LCD's are getting better every couple of months. LCD's have a longer life (about 15,000 hours compard to 10,000 for plasma), a lighter in weight (42" plasma weighs about 70 pounds, 42" LCD weighs about a 3rd of that), and never burn images. however, with lower end LCD's, you get "tracing" effects and sometimes deep blacks look blue.

If you are looking at LCD TV's, dont be cheap, becuase you get what you pay for.

settle down. dudes ps2 was in front of the tv, it was the slim ps2, and there was these lil green transparent vertical lines running about the same width as the ps2. we moved it below it into the shelf and guess what? your never going to believe this. THERE WERE NO MORE LINES. how about that. go study your electronic beams you nerd.
