If they actually do this they will loose big time. If you have 2 playstation 3s that would mean you would have to purchase two games because the second ps3 won't be able to play the game after teh first one has played it. Also the price of games would have to drop drastically to compensate for the loss. Hell what would that do to the video game rental market?!?!?!?! It would be suicide for them to do this.

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.
What the fuck? Why the hell would I pay money for a disc if I won't own the fucking thing?

all the companies are planning on doing this...sooner or later, especially when connecting "online" through your system is working completely...thats why your goin to be able to download old games on that new nintendo system...with the PS3 your gonna be able to DL new levels and what not...thats most likely why their all gonna eventually sell hard drives, so you can DL to it...and as for price, hell no it wont go down...is it cheaper to DL a full music CD off sum like iTUNES or is it the same price or possibly cheaper to get it in the stores...

I doubt that..how the fukk are u gonna fit a 200gb game thats on BLU-RAY disk and download it on to your 20 or 60 gigabyte harddrive..that doesn't make sense..you wouldn't be able to put one game on it..i'm sure they are doing the whole licensing thing to make profit and as well prevent piracy..

looks like i wont be waitin for this shit to come out. 360 here i come.buying a license to play a game? wtf??!? thats gotta be the least consumer marketed strategy ive heard. its almost like they dont even wanna make money. that rental question makes me wonder too. if im payin for a license i aint gonna pay for a rental fee /license or whatever the fuck it is on top of the rental fee itself just to play the games. these muthafuckas are stupid..

edit: i hope it aint true. and if it is,i hope people dont buy the fuckin thing. let them lose out by preventing us from piracy. assholes...lol

dont know if yall saw the update at the bottom of the page in Souljas link, but i hope its right on the money..

------------------------- Upddate 25/05/06 -------------------------------------------
Late 2005 Sony debunked the first round of rumours about locking games to a console by saying "this is false speculation and that PlayStation 3 software will not be copy protected to a single machine but will be playable on any PlayStation 3 console."

We posted this news story due to re-speculation of the patent and rumours of Sony licensing games.

We have contacted Sony regarding both rumours / speculation, and it seems (as most thought) that they are both 100% false, we are just waiting for 100%. concrete confirmation from Sony Europe

Blu-Ray disks, dual layered only fit like 50GB.. And I doubt many games will fill the whole thing.. PS3 hard drives are 60....

But, levels won't probably be over the 1GB range, ever.
