last night i was walking my dog and he tangled with some mountain type dog that was on some guys truck bed...well after the little tango my dog ended up w a 1 inch cut on his left cheek deep enough that you can see the meat although it looks like its closing up... and his lip was split...hes got a bump where the cut on his cheek is...

he seems fine ive been putting some ointment on him and hes cool but you never know...should i take him to the vet to get it checked out?...my hesitation with going to the vet is the ridiculous amount of money they charge me to just look at him...everytime i take him its a 50$ charge to sedate him because he does not like being there...then the medecine, the charge for the cage they put him in for no more than half hour...etc etc etc...

for those whove had similar experiences...whats the best way to tackle this?...should i wait and see how his cuts heal, or should i take him to the vet right away?...the other dog was domestic...some doctor owns it...i am confident its clean but...

whats your advice?

It'd be a waste of money taking it to the vet. If anything, call them and tell them your dog was attacked by another and you need antibiotics for him/her.

my old dog use to get shit like that all time, he couldnt stay outta trouble

anyways homie, you dont need a vet.........best they would is put a sticth or two in there an charge ya 100 bucks.............dogs been fightin since the beggining of time, an no vets were needed then


just get you some iodine, an rub it on there about every day......thats what I would do with my dog, an his shit always healed fast an fine

shit would be best if you could take him to the vet homie......but I feel the situation I probably wouldnt take my dog in either.....just watch the wound and if it starts gettin funny then you can consider takin him to the vet, hopefully dog that bit his shit didnt have rabies or somethin.....

ayy, as long as he keeps eating regular an acting like he does normally then you have nothin to worry about. If he stops eating and starts pissing or shitting in the your house THEN take him to tha vet fast.

thanks everyone...i took him because the split lip was worse than i thought...some shot to sedate him, antibiotics, and a checkup=$190 bill...its peace of mind knowing hes alright.
