So I’m reading the US government is asking for more money for the Iraq/Afghan War…it over $200billion and rising now, while there are cuts in SSecurity and health coverage and raise tax for the poor and middle class, and our educational system is the worst its ever been….yet we’re “generous” to give $350mill to Southeast Asia Tsunami relief??….near 4500 were kill in 9/11 in one city compared to….240,000+ were killed and 12 countries were nearly wiped out from the face of the earth. Another issue is our troops are not provided the needed equipment they need on the ground….there’s an estimated 200,000 US military troops in Iraq (25,748,086 population) & Afghanistan (26,912,354 population)…10billion would take care of their equip, yet they don’t have it??? too fishy… The bill for more war funding is being pushed for approval so fast in Congress…the details of distribution are not reviewed appropriately … last year 2billion for defense came up missing…

While the US has been studied to have the best and the most of everything, including wasted food and is the largest %age to take up the worlds oil distribution, larger than Euro, china or India, we still have starving children, poor health care, and a half ass education. The US had located over $200billion for the war. WHAT IF…. that money went into American households, hospitals, education, employment, and nutrition?

Living in the city and driving through neighborhoods watching lost souls rummage through garbage for warmth, food, or eschewed reality, while interacting with people with an abundant financial wealth …its disturbing to me how people blindly we treat each other inhumanly based on financial status. Socially people prefer not to think twice of the poor because there is a BLIND belief, as some put it, “People are able to “easily” lift themselves up out of anything if they want it bad enough.” 1st … one can’t lift themselves out of dire financial situations. If it wasn’t for people who cared about the homeless there would not have been the few programs we see today. The current government programs suffice only but a 1YEAR assistance period for families and individuals. Families on or below the poverty line need extensive improvement in education, health, food, and technological resources for a growing US family, by law it takes 18years to be deem responsible enough to take care of yourself, 1year assistance don’t add up to 18years. The current assistance programs will NOT create the “opportunities” which we so hold the US to provide for its people.

2nd … the programs are not per household specific. As we ALL have, there are multitudes of factures restricting certain progressive steps. In poverty the most common issues is childcare, food, bills, rent, employment, transportation, time, drugs addictions treatments, legal costs, low education, health problems, learning disabilities, and social environmental issues…priorities differ per household…all that was mentioned take $$ to treat….a cash flow NOT “easily” available in the government programs.

3rd… during brain development there are levels of damages and learning disability occurring, some are too severe for any type of treatment….fortunately the majority of these cases are treatable. Unfortunately, the majority don’t even know they have it. While some individuals who are able to have expert examinations and analysis some are only given the diagnosis but not have the money for the treatments…. while the rest…. will never know ….and will eventually increase psychological and mental problems as the years pass. As more health cuts are passed, you will also see a significant rise of “crazy” people on the streets. Traditionally, mental health and drug centers are the first to be cut from the overall government budget. In the late Reagan years nearly 80% of the nation’s mental health institutions and drug rehabilitation centers were shut down, many patients were thrown to the streets. There is also a shortage of mental health and psychological professionals unable to assess in the proper treatments of the current and growing cases.

As the world becomes more engross by monetary priority societies have lost sight of our humanitarian responsibility to help each other in need. Instead we fear loosing income, property, status, a dollar while thinking of ourselves generously compassionate for just feeling empathy for the poor who have nothing. As corporations build skyscrapers and monster construction equipments, and feast on $5million weddings with $200billion wars … while an estimated 3.5million experience homelessness in a given year (295,573,802 US population) we find ways to still argue that there is NO WAY to eliminate the homeless.

If the US would like to have the real creditability as the number one economic powerhouse the termination of poverty could only deem them worthy to that title… instead they are shy of the greediest corporate government ever.

So while we enjoy our weekend extravaganzas and enjoy the life we live let’s not forget there are people out there less fortunate and with the people’s belief that we can eliminate poverty…we will move forward to locating the available resources to feeding the US and the world successfully.

Let’s look at California. One solution that should be discussed is why our food sources are not feeding all the residents. Currently all Californian food products produces enough to ship to other states and other countries. From a Native Indian stand point the earth should feed its people. So the super markets with it ample supply to assist in the distribution of it residents are limited to individual only with money. Of course, the argument is…..I work so I can feed myself so it wouldn’t be fair if we just give away food to people not working. Now, if we look beyond monetary value… people do not care if one gives away food to people that need it. This must be established directly to all grocers. Californians should have the privilege to have what ever California could easily supply to its residents, freely.
