mixtapes are killin the rap game. they are fuckin stupid, why spend half your time tryin to write rhymes for a mixtape when you can spend that extra time and make your album that much better. another thing that is gay about mixtapes is the songs are never full length or they got a fag ass dj talkin over the tracks. i want full length tracks with no voice overs, especially if im paying for it. look at cellski's mixtapes, those are done real good and thats how they should all be done. not no 1 and a half minute songs with a dj saying exclusive- dj whatever. thats why i cant bump mixtapes in the ride they are annoying.

mixtapes is the shit djs need do it not arsits that way we have hot joints
why dont dj's do something a little more productive then mix old songs together with a couple of exclusives that arent really exclusives 2 weeks later? they should help mix some cds for rappers or scratch in the songs. anyone could be a mixtape dj with a computer.

Mixtapes are very important. The labels want to hear how you song over corporate beats. They dont care about your production, cuz soon as they sign you their gonna send you to the very same producers we rap over in these mixtapes. So have 4 mixtape tracks and a press kit when you see a&r trust me.

They do care. Especially if you put out quality beats. I know producers who have gotten signed when they sent in their demo and the artists was ignored. "The artists are not bad but its not what we are looking for, however who did the production, we would like to get in contact with them". Thats exactly what happenes.

My problem with mix tapes is the quality SUCKS and i'm sick of hearing artists use the same played out beats. The mics sound like radio shack mics most of the time. The Dj is yelling some bullshiit over the song. The dj's dont actually mix. Its nothing but shout outs and dj promotion. Maybe 10-15 years ago it was aiight But now its so saturated its sickening.

yeah, especially since i buy bay area shit primarily for its style of beats... it kills the purpose when these bay artists are spittin over beats from rappers of other regions.

only mixtape i ever purchased was that done deal joint from 3 years ago... fairly decent
