Sony Settles With Immersion, Will Rumble Return?

According to GameDaily, Sony Computer Entertainment and Immersion have settled their patent litigation and enter into a business agreement to work on future products. Immersion filed suit against Sony in 2002 for what they believed were patent infringements on their force feedback technology, resulting in a $90.7 million judicial decision against Sony.
But today, it appears the two companies have made nice. Here's what Sony boss Kaz Hirai has to say of his new business partners:

We look forward to exploring with Immersion exciting new ways to bring the largest and best range of gameplay experiences to our customers. We are very excited about our new partnership with Immersion and the potential for new and innovative products incorporating their technologies.

Does this mean we'll soon see rumble in the SIXAXIS? It's unknown at this point, but Immersion head Victor Viegas says they hope "to make technical proposals very soon with respect to use of our technology in the PlayStation products." Oh, it's just good news all around! Michael McWhertor

For thoses people that already have a PS3 with a few controllers I don't see the point of upgrading them when the Rumble Feature comes out.

not just 360 but ps2, xbox, gamecube and wii all came with rumble right out the box. The last time you had to pay extra for rumble was for the dreamcast and the first time on N64

Personally, I am so used to having rumble, since the Dreamcast and N64 days up to now, that it feels weird to me without it.

i like it cus it lets you know you get hit in a shooter game, and you can feel the tackles in madden, and its coo when they do it for like cut scene things. like in splinter cell where you parachute out the rumble just adds to it that much more. you dont notice it until its gone.

Its also in the new EGM. SCEA CEO said rumble is irrelevant and some other BS. I would bet money that more people want rumble vs those who dont.
Personally I like it and think it is a feature that should be standard.

And thats why I dont have one. Reading that interview in EGM just drove that home. The SCEA CEO is cocky as hell and Sony overall as a company is cocky. I almost bought one since i had some extra cash lying around, but every game I would buy, i already own on 360 which is a better overall expereince. i dont mind paying money for a well run and all inclusive online expereince.

IM ON THE PS3 DAILY AND TO BE HONEST I REALLY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT A RUMBLE FEATURE. THE CONTROLS STAY CHARGED LONGER BY NOT HAVING IT. WHATS FUNNY TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF YALL REALLY WANT A PLAYSTATION 3 BUT ARE TRYING TO TO FIND EVERY LITTLE THING YOU CAN TO TALK YOURSELVES OUT OF IT LOL. ITS ALL GOOD.
