this time its the republicans. using the race of that supreme court justice nominee to say the democrats are holding the first hispanic man from sitting on the bench. this is a common democratic strategy and the gop must be seeing that it works. i hate to see them resort to this as they are the lesser of two evils in the washington political landscape.

ya, i hate it when people do those kind of things no matter the party.

here is some information about the guy, he is OVERLY qualified.

1. he is an immigrant that came here at 17 years old from Central America
2. he only knew Spanish when he arrived here. it only took him two years to be fluent in Engish
3. he graduated "magna (SP) cum laudde" from both Columbia University and the Harvard law school
4. he was assistant Soliciter General for both Bush41 and Clinton.
5. he recieved the highest ratest possible from the ABA (American Bar Association)
6. he has argued 15 cases before the supreme court and has won 10 of them.

to me that is a very qualified nominee.

that is being fillibustered for what????

it makes you wonder. the Senates job is to advise and consent. how can they not OK him.

could it be because he is a Conservative? who just happens to be..................

.........a republican? what did you expect?
democrats are just now starting to fight as dirty as
the gop has been for years. too little, too late.
kill em all, let satan sort em out.

(whistling "dixie" as i stroll out the crater of
what was once the cradle of democracy...)

never once has the Senate fillibustered a judicial nominee to the D.C. circuit court of appeals.

i hate to bring up the race card also myself but...... i think the democrats are afraid of losing the hispanic voting block. i mean look Jeb bush is probly about 10 years away from the White House. he is married to a mexican american. therefore he will pull alote of hispanic votes toward the GOP. the cuban american population is automatic for the GOP. George W. Bush has very high popularity in Texas. and if he suceeds with the Estrada nomination, then springboards him from the Circuit court to the SUPREME COURT (rumors). he will and in turn the GOP will earn a big %age of the hispanic vote , which historically has been owned by the DNC. Bush is also gaining popularity amoung blacks. who nominated the only black judge on the supreme court right now(GOP)? now tried to block it (DEMOCRATS)? which party is the only party to nominate the first Secratary of State (Colin Powell)?? of course it was bush and the GOP. who was the first party to nominate the first ever black head of the NSA (Condaleeza Rice)?? thats right Goerge W. Bush and the GOP.

dogg, i am not a democrat. i am not posting
here trying to defend 1 agenda from another.
i think either party will be down w/ whatever
it takes to get the votes they need to win.
& i see the bush family as 1 of the most
insidious cancers this country has ever had,
that's it. that some of y'all are so hell-bent
on defending them, i figure i got to play devil's
advocate.

that is very true but......

the only difference is that the democrats say that are are going to help you and fight for minorities according to group status. as to where republicans say that you have to prove yourself worthy as an individual

the rebublicans that means you got to be
a house nigga. no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
