An Indiana pit bull was tasered and put down after a man’s wife entered their home on Christmas day to find her husband dead from multiple bite marks. Edward L. Cahill, 40, bled out on his living room floor after one of his two 8-year-old pit bulls turned on him.

Reports NWI.com out of Indiana Dec. 26: “A Portage man was found dead in his home Thursday night after suffering massive blood loss from dog bites to his arms and face by his pit bull, according to Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris. Police said what appeared to be blood was visible on the floor around Cahill's body, on the carpet, walls and furniture.”

The pit bull that attacked Cahill, named “Fat Boy,” had to be tasered by a police officer after an animal control officer was unable to get the trap line around the dog’s neck. The pit bull was later euthanized at the Hobart Humane Society – something that Cahill’s wife had urged him to do in the past.

According to police, Cahill’s wife Blanca Rodriguez told officers that Fat Boy was “extremely aggressive and unpredictable,” especially when he had a bone or chew in his mouth. The dog had bitten both Cahill and his girlfriend’s son in the past. UPI.com reports that Cahill had given each of his pit bulls a rawhide bone on Christmas morning. The other dog, named Keylo, was locked in the bedroom and evidently did not participate in the attack.

“It was the only dog that was able to get to the individual. It was very obvious,” said Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris.

Cahill's wife, Blanca Rodriguez, defended the dogs to the media, despite what she told officers in the police report. “I don’t want people to think bad of pit bulls,” Rodriguez said. “They were playful dogs. One slept with the girls and the other slept with me and my husband. It was just a freak accident. He loved his dogs. That’s all I can say, and I think it’s something that just went wrong. He was a great man. He was my best friend, my rock, and he loved his four kids.”

Commenting to NWI on the attack, professional dog trainer and certified dog behavior consultant Toni Bianchi said the attack was not because all pit bulls are inherently aggressive.

“Pit bulls get a bad rep,” Bianchi said. “I think this incident has nothing to do with the dog's breed. I've worked with some pit bulls that are therapy dogs and they're great. An aggressive dog can be any breed. I've seen just as many good pit bulls as bad pit bulls.”

I like when people are walking their giant dogs and it gets all excited or it's barking at your as they're struggling to hold them with the leash and they say something retarded like "oh, he'll just lick you to death! He's never bitten anyone before."

I don't know you and I don't trust you or your dog.

Good thing it was the dumbfuck who got it and not his family. I like pit bulls but if they are raised wrong and become dickheads they are too powerful to keep around
