WALNUT CREEK -- The woman known best for portraying Pippi Longstocking on film was placed under a citizen's arrest after a spat with a roommate over pizza, police said Saturday.
Tami Erin -- who played the title role in the 1988 movie "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking" -- was arrested on suspicion of assault Thursday after getting in a fight with her roommate, according to Walnut Creek police.
Walnut Creek police said Erin, who was born Tamara Erin Klicman, was placed under citizen's arrest by her roommate after the two began arguing shortly after pizza was delivered to their apartment on Sunnyvale Avenue.
Police are unsure what exactly caused the argument, but a neighbor overheard the two arguing and called police after hearing the roommate call out for help.
When Walnut Creek police officers arrived, the male roommate, who has not been identified, asked to put the actress under citizen's arrest on suspicion of assault.
Police transported Erin to the county jail, where she was released Friday morning. The case has been sent to the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office for review, according to gossip website TMZ.
Online Contra Costa court records show a man tried to place a temporary restraining order against Erin for civil harassment Jan. 7. It was dropped by the court at a Jan. 28 hearing, according to those records. No other court details were available Saturday.
@TamiErinReal, the official Twitter account for the actress, sent a message to media, including this newspaper, stating: "100% Lies. You should be ashamed of lying."
That message has since been deleted.
