I was wondering the same. There are so many VSTS out there and i wouldn't want to get stuck with a shitty non returnable item. I know sampletank is pretty good and heard good shit about Protus X and absynth. I want really clean realistic piano sounds though. the electromechanical refil from reason is pretty good but you always want more you know.

i ordered an Axiom midi keyboard from M-Audio a couple weeks ago, and it came packaged with Ableton Live Lite 4, and when i installed it i got a free upgrade to live lite 5 online. you could look into going that route, the keyboard itself is pretty good too.

^^^^^Yeah that's exactly what I got recently also, an M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller. It's a hella nice controller.

As far as Piano sounds go, I'm a little thin there as well. I've actually been using more VSTi synths to sythesize piano type sounds, rather than actual piano samples. I also use that FL Keys plugin in FL Studio which is sampled based I believe, it's aight if you tweak with it and apply FX and what not, but I know there's far superior plugins out there that produce way better piano sounds. I also got that freeware 4Front Piano module VSTi plugin, it's aight.

"Native Instrument's Akoustik Piano" comes to mind also.

There's also a new plugin called "Pianoteq" that seems to be getting really good reviews.

Check out this list:

^That's all you should really need as far as trying to find Piano plugins.

go with VSTi plugins then. That's all I'm using right now and I'm happy. There's lots of great plugins out there.
