OAKLAND-Friday Jocquline Mason, 44, a respected community activist, was found slain in an apartment in the 3600 block of Patterson Avenue in the Laurel district that she shared with two daughters and grandchildren.
An autopsy will determine if she was stabbed or beaten, Sgt. Tony Jones said.
Jones identified the suspect as musician Phillip White, 27, whose performing name is ``Philthy Phil'', from Indianapolis. Mason had met him about five years ago in Atlanta and he had been visiting her in Oakland.
White was still being sought Saturday and was possibly driving Mason's missing white Chevrolet van withthe slogan of her ``No Sex Policy'' teen abstinence campaign on the side and the license plate 4L*****.
