I have a weird problem. I am currently using a Netgear wireless USB adapter for an upstairs computer connected to a DSL connection. Here's the funny part. I just shut off the DSL modem and wireless router and the USB adapter still connects to a "default" network.

This default network always stays on and is lightning fast even though Windows and the adapter utility measure it at 1.0 Mbps. Where is this ghost connection coming from?

Is it from my neighbor?

Haha, that's pretty crazy. Check your IP address... Start-Run-winipcfg-ENTER in win98, ME ... or Start-Run-cmd-ENTER for the command prompt, then type ipconfig and hit enter for winXP and win2000. If it's a 192.X.X.X IP address you're using somebody's router, I guess.... that's tight though... kuz wireless networks are supposed to be pretty secure. If you are on somebodys network, they probably also have a Netgear brand router.
