PETALUMA (KRON)--Police have arrested a Penngrove man suspected of piloting a plane while intoxicated Tuesday afternoon.
Police say California Highway Patrol officers noticed a plane flying too low over Highway 37 in Sonoma County, estimating the plane to be about 100 feet above the highway traffic below. According to police, officers followed the plane to Petaluma Municipal Airport.
After landing at the airport, a 62-year-old man emerged from the plane and was confronted by the officers. He was taken into custody after failing a sobriety test. Police say the officers had detected the smell of alcohol on his breath.
