Pacquiao-Barrera Rematch Set For Oct. 6

LOS ANGELES - Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank have reached a settlement of the various legal disputes including that pertaining to Manny Pacquiao.

Bouts between Manny Pacquiao and marquee fighters under contract to Golden Boy will be co-promoted by Golden Boy and Top Rank. Fights between Manny Pacquiao against fighters other than Golden Boy fighters will be promoted by Top Rank with Golden Boy retaining a promotional interest.

The first fight which will be presented under this arrangement will be Manny Pacquiao vs. Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6, 2007 at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy, and Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, both agreed that the settlement will be great for boxing as Top Rank fighters will be taking on Golden Boy fighters in the months and years ahead.

All other details of the settlement are confidential.

their milking the cow everytime they don't give us exactly what we want. i think we all want to see marquez fight pacquiao. about 4 months ago though all i seen on the polls was barrera. so how many fights till marquez???

on another note i hear alot of mexican fans screaming barrera or just mentioning him everytime someone says pacquiao.

at the last fight with pac and morales. on the road out someone yelled "BARRERA!" and this flip yelled. "Barrera got knocked out by pacquiao!"

so i don't know it was 18,250 at pac morales 3 it would prolly sell just as much tickets?

Nothing but respect for Barrera. He's a true warrior. But I really don't see this one going any different than the first fight, if not worse for Barrera. In their first fight, he fought a one armed Pacquiao, with no jab and horrible footwork.

Barrera is a legend, but I don't see him being able to deal with Pacquiao's quickness, aggression, and power.

Anybody got any ticket info ?

I agree with 2-0...we need to see a JMM-Pac rematch. I think these two are the top two in their weightclass, with Joan Guzman being next in line.

Pacquiao has got the worst advisers and seriously is surrounded by leeches. I heard he's going to try and become a lawyer now!??!? WTF type of shit is that? What type of douchebags are telling Pacman, "Yeah Pac, you'd make a helluva lawyer. Good career choice!" Especially after the failed election.

I seriously think Pacman's days are limited. He's going to get beat in an upset eventually if he keeps focusing on non-boxing related shit....

That's what I'm starting to think. I just hope he realizes who are really in his corner and who are just trying to make money off him soon because he is currently one of my favorite fighters and it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

I'll go with the under-dog and pick Barrera by UD. No disrespect to Pacman though because he's good. But I think Barrera will take this one.

Yeah... I watched the first fight between Pac and Barerra and Pac was spanking him... But if Barerra is fighting him again I am pretty sure that Barerra has or will make some adjustments this time. I know he's older but he's a very good fighter. I'll order this one...

Pacquiao's head is not in the game. I smell an upset.

From another site:

Manny Pacquiao's training is a circus. What with hundreds of noisy fans limbering everyday inside and outside the gym.The gym is humid enough much more with the dozens of noisy fans inside. To add chaos is the presence of movie celebrities and hangers on inside the gym.

Freddie Roach cannot concentrate and becomes irritable at times. He demands a closed door training to Manny's manager Wakee Salud.
