Catwomen? I heard the other villian was penguin? I think if its true depp will do a good job. I doubt anyone could top Ledgers Joker? But i also said nobody would top Jacks Joker.

I thought the directer said he wouldn't do Penguin or Catwomen since they had already been represented in Batman films (though, so has Riddler & Joker, so...)

Christopher Nolan hasn't come out of vacation yet, and has also stated that he wants to do a few indy films before he jumps back into another epic ala Batman.

Speculate all you want, but it's not final until Johnathon Nolan, David Goyer and Chris actually write a script. A LONG FUCKING TIME.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been rumored to play Penguin, but he says it's probably not happening.

Angelina Jolie doesn't fit into the thematics of the Batman films like people think she would.

Depp would be a great casting of The Riddler, but he'd also be the biggest movie start to set foot in a Nolanverse Batman film, and would have to be done right. Nolan is known for getting "substance" actors who aren't necessarily known as huge box office draws. Caine and Freeman both had their turns in the big spotlight, and only after Batman Begins did Cillian Murphy and Christian Bale become bigger. Most people won't even associate Bale as being from Empire of the Sun and Reign of Fire, nor do most remember Murphy's first film in America as being 28 Days Later.

I like johnny depp but I hope he doesn't get the role, he's been pretty much sucking since fear and loathing and he plays the same role every time.

Now joaquin pheonix as the riddler, that's another story

Also it's supposed to be philip seymour hoffman as the penguin, but the penguin is a shitty villain.

Some of you don't read the threads entirely, do you?

Here's the article, so you don't think I'm making this shit up.

Yesterday was a semi-significant day in movie blogger history, comparative to the invention of the “Who Farted?” t-shirt. When TDK actor and beloved old geezer, Michael Caine, told MTV that a Warner Bros. exec had mentioned Johnny Depp for The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman for The Penguin in Batman 3 (the borderline fan-fic sequel, hence the title), enlightened movie bloggers posted, podcasted, Twittered, filmed and pissed in snow diatribes like: “Enough!” “We have standards!” “This is bullshit, don’t get me started on Big Willie for Capt!” “I’m not going to mention it, but I am mentioning it, clever, innit?” Fitting then that MTV decided to ask Senor Hoffman what the deal is at the TIFF (not at the tres ghetto VMAs)…

“No one has talked to me about it ever — never,” replied Hoffman. “It happened, like, five years ago, too. It was a rumor back then and it’s still a rumor. [laughs] It’s just in the press. It’s funny.”

Ha. But wait. Depp has said that while the villain rumor is categorically unfounded The Riddler would be “fun.” How about a little fun?

“I don’t know. I think I’m more interested in seeing someone else do it. I don’t know if I’d be a good Penguin to be quite honest. [laughs]”

Orly? But what is the possibility that Hoffman then put on a monocle, scarfed a sardine and excitedly texted Cher and Depp and Nolan and DeVito with “They frickin’ bought it”? Twittle me that, because I’m a believer.

Long live Jim Carey's Riddler.
Agreed. Although that movie wasn't very good, Jim Carrey fucking nailed that part.

I don't think they should have The Riddler at all, what with the studio looking to make all future DC movies increasingly "darker" in tone. A dark, brooding Riddler? Doesn't seem worth it to me. The world already has enough movies where an intelligent/disturbed criminal leads a detective force through a series of puzzling clues to a thoughtful/predictable showdown finale.

The Riddler in the comic books was a genius and more of an anti hero, not brooding or sour.

Mixed together with another character with humanistic qualities(such as Deathstroke), The Riddler could be just as relevant as Ledger's Joker.

What depp plays the same role everytime? I don't agree with this and i think fear and loathing is great but that is more so due to DR Hunter S Thompsons writings and not depps portrayal. But don't frett the rum diary's are soon to come...

Only thing i don't like depp for this is i don't want tim burton anywhere near the dark night series

Another note the joker was the most dynamic villain of all the batman tales and i hope they kill him off in the story between movie's . So as to not replace ledger and bring quinn in that would be sick

And For any fans of hunter check this its the shit way better than pay the ticket take the ride

Johnny Depp could top Heath Ledgers anything, any day. All Ledger did in Batman was lick his fuckin' lips a lot. The makeup made the part.

Now joaquin pheonix as the riddler, that's another story
You are very, very gay.
