i just started on cubase sx and i have a problem when recording midi. instead of the traditional lagging, whenever i play something it programs it too early by probably a quarter or eighth note or so. i havent messed with the quantizing functions but i checked and its set to 16ths no triplets, no groove, nothing and no matter what it records just a split second earlier than i want to.

help.

lol.....this is the first time I've ever heard somebody complain about MIDI timing being too fast. That's crazy bro. I wish I could help ya there......but I haven't switched to SX because I wasn't really feelin' it and I haven't heard anybody really rave about it.

I would think that if anything......it would be that your quantize has some strange offset?

Yes to VSTI's in Sonar XL. The midi problem. D-Sane already suggested the only thing I can think of. I don't think the problem even can be something other than an offset. I've never heard anyone complaining about midi-timing being too fast either! I don't think that's even possible. lol

I have the same problem with Cakewalk 9.0, a Soundblaster Live sound card, and a Roland JV 1080 sound module... If I start playing at 1:00:000 and there are notes there, the first one will be off... But if I shift the notes to start at 2:00:00 and start playing at 1:04:000, it doesn't happen. It only happens if there are notes where I'm starting to play from. For some reason it only happens with the JV 1080 and not with my Proteus 2000 on the same setup. If you figure it out, let me know, and I'll tell you if I figure it out... I've had the problem for a while now, about a year or so, I just work around it...

i ASSUMED that all my quantize settings were at default seeing how i never changed any and never messed with the ITERATIVE STRENGTH. it is set to 60 % as a default and when i put it to zero its fine, no problems. hmmm.....
