thinkin about flippin the mpc prob the 2000, what is peoples opinions on it that own it? i fuck with other shit at the moment, but thinkin of either the mpc or snatchin a computer and feeding it some steroids and programs for sampling etc. leave feedback please.thanks ya'll.peace.

I figured out how to extract the quantization from a drum loop in SX/Nuendo like we talked about. Next time I'm around I'll see if I can have you record a drum beat on the MPC and extract the quantization 'groove' and apply it to some other drum beat...

ive heard of mpc's having their own swing but is it really possible for it to be copy proof? i highly doubt it as quantization is just division of a beat, unless the mpc has its own math system all to itself.

What's funny is that the MPC 60/60ii/3000 and the 2000*/4000/1000 do -NOT- have the same midi engine. The 60/60ii/3000's actually have a slight unintentional drag in the timing but it results in a more natural feel, which is why it was never fixed in any of the OS updates.

While the 60/60ii/3000 and the 2000*/4000/1000 carry the same MPC label, they arn't all versions of the same thing. A lot of the design was carried over to the newer non-Roger Linn versions but the internals were re-done from the ground up.

Could you replicate the 60/60ii/3000 timing? Technically yes but it would be a LOT of work. Could you replicate the 2000*/4000/1000 timing? Most present-day sequencers already do.

From a computer programmer's point of view (mine), it would take only a few hours to duplicate the feel of the 3000's timing. Maybe 3 hours to analyze behavior of the quantization and about 10 minutes to implement it in software...
