Open Office! Better , Free alternative to Microsoft Word, Excel, others!

I saw someone asking for a key for MS Word. So it led me to make this thread. Open Office is the program that Microsoft DOES NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT! And it's FREE and Better than Microsoft Office suite. Not only that but IT CAN OPEN AND READ ALL MICROSOFT DOCUMENTS. AND IT'S FREE.

on an older computer i got some kinda virus on word

so i went and got this program (i think it was this one) and it took over word duties on that pc untill i got a new one (with word installed).

if you don't have word or are having problems with it i'd recomend going with this

how is it "better" than MS Office? i have office and i'm just curious.

The fact that it is Open Source makes it better.

Open Office is not better funcionally, no ifs ands or asses. If you're broke download MS Office. Why would you download the " cheaper " alternative? Who pays for software anyway!?

Its all preference...

The reason its "better"...is becuase anything to with Microsoft...your gonna have viruses and worms...why you ask?Cus its popular...so hackers will go after what MORE people have....

But this does NOT=better...

I don't use either extensively. I needed to do my time record from home one day and did not have Excel , and wasn't bout to come to work just for that. I looked for MSO to no avail and came across Open Office. I downloaded it and opened up my time record that was done originall in Excel .xls , and did what I had to do and sent it back to work. I was also able to open SoundScan reports , also in .xls with no problems.
