I was up in my hometown of Portland last weekend and stopped by One Love Records for the first time. If your in town for a day or from the area make a point to stop in and see him. He is more than happy to talk music & life or give ya some real history...I could really tell he loves choppin w/ folks like us on here.
Octavius spent over an hour talking bay & NW w/ me. Everything from stories about selling tapes on the bus w/ Too Short as kids to pics of backstage. He brought out box after envelope to show me some of what he's saved over the years and shared w/ me his vision to open a West Coast museum. His store itself has good product on the shelves but the conversation alone will always be worth the extra effort. I had to cut that day but easily could've stayed for another couple hours.
I saw he posted up the releases he's got planned on Seagram Records on another thread but keep your eye out for those. Thanks Tavis for taking the time to kick-it w/ a regular dude. I'll be back next time I'm up.
