Arguably the biggest upset in sports history, Tyson a 40-1 favorite to beat the unknown buster douglas.

Did you watch the fight? Do you remember?

I remember watching with my family, my two brothers and my pops. When Tyson went down, I remember being genuinely upset and in disbelief. When I was little, like everyone else Tyson was invincible. No one could fuck with Tyson! After the fight the excuses started to come out, that douglas got more than 10 seconds when he was knocked down, etc. But the truth was douglas was beating the shit out of tyson the entire fight and that he truly put on a masterful performance.

Whenever they show this fight on ESPN Classic or wherever I can't watch it all, as amazing as it was that was the beginning of the end for tyson...goes to prison shortly after and was never the same.

We were too poor to order the fight so I had to listen to it on TV and try to decipher the images through the blur. Like the spice channel...

I didn't really care that he lost either. At that age the only thing I knew about boxing was Mike Tyson though. I didn't know about weight divisions, etc. I just thought he was the champ of boxing.

for some reason I was never a fan of jones oh yeah that's cuz I'm a hopkins fan lol so I laughed when that happened. the one that really shocked me was Rahman KO'ing lennox lewis. I always hated lewis but it was unexpected.

even sadder though was tyson getting his ass kicked by lewis. man, drugged up tyson was a pathetic version of Iron Mike. very depressing

I will never forget the KO. He muscles him back, keeps him at bay with five or six jabs, takes his head off with an uppercut and tacks on a few extra for good measure.

Two things to remember about that fight.

1. No matter who Tyson fought that night he was going to lose. His training was fucked off, he had too much on his plate and he was a train without brakes.

2. No matter who Douglas fought that night he was going to win. His mother had recently died, the mother of his child was diagnosed with a life threatening disease, he was the biggest under dog in boxing history. What did he have to lose?

This shit was like when JFK got his scalp parted. Everyone remembers what they were doing, where they were, etc.

tyson is / was my all time favorite boxer. i grew up on hagler, hearns, leonard, sweet pea, de la hoya and the list goes on but for some reason i knew he would lose that night. i seen him whoop on so many dudes it's not like i predicted it i just knew no one is unstopable. and i was hatin that night! just a lil kid feel'n like i wanna see him lose just this once and from the way buster douglas was fighting i knew it would be a bitch for him to get him off his ass!

long story short i had a packed house in our living room mad and my dumb ass was the only one screaming.

i just had it for him that night but i will always be a fan. he's the main reason i watch boxing. lil kid in the 80's growing up just watching the sport. it's my favorite sport actually.

oh and for the record i predicted o.j. would be found "not guilty." i have witnesses the moment it happened watching it at school lol.

and roy jones i think he's cool but as far as history's shocking moments. i had a friend who seen it live and in person in vegas.

real talk. shit's crazy.
