On One - On One
1) "Stack Your Ched" ft. Kane Related, Denovo
A coo laid back type of beat done by Tyrant, who produced the entire
album,
to get the album started off with. On One, Kane Related and Denovo come
pretty solid on the mic. I'm not a big fan of the hook though, I don't
like
the squeaky voice at the end of it. They talk about getting that cash
and
staying breaded up. An alright sound to start the album with, I like
it.
2) "Don't Trust You" ft. Kady Kane, Decurrian
Another solid beat by Tyrant for this song. The flows by all three
rappers
are ok as they talk about not trusting the girls they're with. The hook
has
some nice singing on it. I like the beat the most out of anything on
this
song. Decurrian has the best verse on the song, he has the hardest
style of
the three. A decent song overall.
3) "Do it to Death" ft. Craziness, Overdoze
I like this song better than the first two songs. The beat has a faster
pace
to it and a nice sound to it. The hook is good. I don't like Overdoze
at
all, but On One and Craziness have solid verses. Would have been better
without Overdoze's verse, but it's still a solid song.
4) "Burn" ft. Q-Sick
A tight beat with some nice piano lines in the background. On One
starts
this one off with a good verse. The hook is solid too. Q-Sick comes
nicely
on the mic too. Both On One and Q-Sick come solid on the mic as the
beat
plays in the background. A pretty good song overall, might have been
better
with a little faster pace to it.
5) "Star Search" ft. Young Hogg, Budroe
I'm not a big fan of the hook on this song, but I do like the verses
and the
beat is pretty solid. On One, Young Hogg and Budroe have solid verses
on the
mic. The song would have been better with a different hook, I wasn't
feeling
it much. Besides that I like the song.
6) "Hard Dayz Work"
A club type beat right here that bangs hard. On One comes tight talking
about that club type shit. The hook is alright, it could have been
better,
but I like it for the most part, Evidence handles the background vocals
on
the chorus. On One spits a good song, this is one of my favorite tracks
on
the album.
7) "Nerves"
A slower, softer beat for this song. On One talks about some of the
harder
things in his life and just keeping it going for the cash. I like the
background vocals on the chorus. Only a two verse song, but I like it a
lot,
another one of my favorite songs on the album.
8) "Last Nite" ft. Tyrant
Another medium to slow paced beat nicely done by Tyrant. The vocals on
the
hook done by Jacklon are pretty good. On One and Tyrant talk about
girls and
how they're only after their money. Another pretty good song, but it
sounds
like some of the other songs on the album.
9) "DNA" ft. On Two
A tight hard bass line starts this song off as On One comes tight on
the
mic. He talks about his experience selling drugs and getting high. I
like
the beat a lot for this song, but the rest of the song is just as
tight. I
like the lyrics by On One, a nice change of pace from the other songs
on the
album.
10) "Triple Grand"
More solid production from Tyrant on this song. On One comes with solid
medium paced flow on the mic. He has a solid style and an alright
voice. I
like the hook to this song. Another solid song from On One, I'm feeling
it.
11) "Saturday" ft. Tyrant, Overdoze
A cool beat to start things off with. I like On One and Tyrant on the
mic
for this song, but again I'm not feeling Overdoze at all. Jacklon does
the
background vocals on the hook nicely. This is good track except for the
verse by Overdoze, they talk about chilling out on a Saturday night.
12) "Legal Dope"
A bit of a faster pace to this song, I like it much better than some of
the
slower paced songs on the album. On One comes hard on the mic, I like
his
lyrics and his delivery. The beat fits nicely with more good background
instruments to it. Another good song from On One, I'm feeing it
overall.
13) "Societies Myth"
A decent beat for this song, not as good as most of the other beats on
the
album. On One tackles some political issues on this song. He talks
about the
government, George Bush and some other political topics. A pretty good
song,
I like it much more for the lyrics than the beat.
14) "On One"
This song has the fastest pace of any other song on the album. The beat
is
pretty good for the most part. On One comes good talking about how he
got
his stage name. The hook could have been better, but besides that it's
a
solid song. There is another track after this song, but it's just the
first
song repeated.
Overall this was a solid release from On One. I wasn't feeling it at
first
and the first few songs on the album didn't really catch my attention
much,
but the second half of the album was much better. The production done
solely
by Tyrant was pretty good, nothing too out of the ordinary, but solid
production throughout. The features were alright, not really too great,
but
there were a couple worth listening to. On One brought a solid mic
presensce
to the album. I like his lyrics on most of the songs and he has a good
delivery on the mic. I think there was a short period where some of the
songs got a big repetitive in production and topic, but that can be
overlooked for the second half of the CD. I would like to hear some
better
collaborations with On One for future albums, but this was a solid
release
from the Northwest native.
Overall Rating = 4/5
