First, I'm not trying to be an asshole, so before you get offended remember that. I'm just looking for some straight forward answers and to get anyone to answer my questions it seems I have to make an entire thread dedicated to one original post I made in response to another. I rephrased some of what I said though.

Wrong the Bible says that God is Love. The old Testament talks of God destroying whole cities, but only because that was the time of the law. When Jesus came that was taken care of. "Love your Brother like yourself".
So the old testament was really just a big fuck up or what? When Jesus came they realized that God was nice? How do you get the world to do what you want? You tell them some unknown thing will send them to the depths of hell for all eternity. And then when things aren't working so much, they write a new one (testament). Are we gonna have another "revised" bible when the "messiah" supposedly will come back?

2-0-SIXX,
NAW BRUH, IT DOESN'T JUST WORK THAT WAY. (gOD) DESTROYED CITIES CAUSE THEY WERE FOUL, JUST LIKE IT IS TODAY. BUT HE gAVE FAIR WARNIN' THRU HIS PEOPLES. IF PEOPLE DIDN'T LISTEN BAK THEN, THEN THEY WAS CAUgHT SLIPPIN' FOR NOT HEEDIN' TO THE WORDS.

WHEN JESUS CAME, THAT CHANgED A LOT OF SHIT. BUT TIL THIS DAY A LOT OF JEWS DON'T RECOgNIZE HIM AS WHAT THE BIBLE IDENTIFIES HIM AS. THUS DIFFERENT BELIEFS, DIFFERENT RELIgIONS.

What kind of shit? Did Jesus just start telling people that God was good and loving instead of what they had been hearing for however many hundreds of years? If they believed the mean shit of course they're going to believe the nice shit. And again I will ask, do you think there will be another revised Bible when a supposed Jesus or "real" Messiah comes back? Honestly I've not read much of the Bible and I've quoted it word for word when I've explained things to people (and I really found it when I looked, Romans 6, but I don't remember what Bible), but maybe its cause people have no common sense or don't have any idea of what humanity is about, but I do? I'm sure I'm not the only one who views things this way but it sure seems like it sometimes.

No one should waste time answering this. It's a loaded question which will lead everyone in circles. I wanted to comment and address statements you made in another thread (I'll leave them alone for now), but I'll touch on something here. You said:

Look at EVERYTHING in BOLD type and tell me if you see a problem. I see a problem. I see a problem with you not having read much of the bible (quoting it word for word) and making attempts to explain it to people. What makes you an authority when you haven't even read it? Look at the way you READ the bible. Instead of STUDYING the bible (researching), the use of LANGUAGE (how it was used at THAT time period), the different translations, and the different languages used you ask pathetic questions in an attempt to incite an arguement. You'll call the opposition all sorts of names (look at the other thread this came from) and attempt to make it seem like the opposition is wrong for calling you on your obvious bullshit.

Not today.

I don’t have to learn and understand the native tongue of ancient Aztecs, the Greeks or the Egyptians to conclude that their beliefs were fantasy and full of shit. There is no difference with the bibble.

I don’t need to spend 20+ years studying Zeus to know Zeus if fictional.

Let the man fend for himself. How is someone supposed to take you guys serious when you guys have NOT studied. You are taking some parts for literal value and not paying attention to HOW the languages were used. BTW this is how the majority of your contradictions come into play. People see ENGLISH verses about "Jesus hung from a tree" , take it for face value and yell with a loud and idiotic voice CONTRADICTION! Go and read the greek and latin and see if you still say it after you see what the verses REALLY say.

EDIT: and @ 206 this reply really ISN'T directed towards you.

You misunderstood me. I wasn't talking about the Bible when I said some shit from it, I was speaking my mind about a certain topic-that had no direct connection to the Bible except it was about life.

I didn't say I knew shit. That's why I asked. I NEVER said I was any type of authority, you assumed I meant that. I think you missed my point and took it in the wrong direction...I'm not claiming to know ANYTHING about the Bible (old or new testament). Maybe you should read the parts that aren't bold you fucking smart ass. If you wanna tell me I'm wrong when you don't even take my message in whole then go somewhere else because picking out 3 sentences that you disagree with doesn't mean shit to me cause you obviously didn't understand what I was saying IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Then people should ask me what I mean instead of assuming that they know. Their interpretation might be different than mine (different, not better, so people don't ASSUME). Which seems to be the case yet again.

Beliefs is an ALL ENCOPASSING word. I know you meant "Religious believes," and because of this, and the fact that I am an Aztec indian [Mexica], I gotta tell you right now you look like an idiot.

You knew exactly what I meant so why even reply with anything but a simple correction of my statement? It makes you look like a dick.

@Heresy,

Let the man fend for himself.
It's a free forum :)

Besides, these topics bring back old memories

How is someone supposed to take you guys serious when you guys have NOT studied.
I know enough and I probably know more about the bibble than the average Amerikan.

You are taking some parts for literal value
Me specifically or are you just generally speaking about Atheists and non-believers? Christians are guilty of this, not me. I don't take anything in the bible as literal. Ask any 10 christians if they believe the story of Adam and Eve or if the earth was created in 7 days and at least 5 of them will say yes.

Besides, it still doesn't hide the fact that god did some very naughty things. (or maybe all that violent disgusting behavior by God was not to be taken literally, only the good stuff?)

and not paying attention to HOW the languages were used.
Literal or not still proves nothing.

BTW this is how the majority of your contradictions come into play.
People see ENGLISH verses about "Jesus hung from a tree" , take it for face value and yell with a loud and idiotic voice CONTRADICTION!
My contradictions? lol, what contradictions?

After all of this time of the siccness I spent a lot of time debating why the Christian God (or any Deity) is irrational. Rarely did I ever post contradictions from the bibble. I don't need to use the bibble to disprove the bibble, that is the same as a christian using it to prove it.

Go and read the greek and latin and see if you still say it after you see what the verses REALLY say.
Say what? What exactly have I said besides its bullshit? Do you honestly think that if I read it in Greek and Latin I would be a believer?! Is there some kind of secret knowledge that can only be gained in Greek and Latin that cannot be told in English or are you strictly speaking about contradictions in the bible? The only thing I said in this thread was the bible is full of fairy tales and that it's bullshit. Again, I don't need to read the original texts to know it's bullshit.

My apologies. I had a point to go with why I corrected you. But I think I'll save it for when, or if, the discussion leads to where I hope it will.

Do any of you remember, in school, doing this activity where you start off by telling one person a secret, in detail, then passing it from ear to ear through hella people to see if the secret story is the same word for word as it was with the first person that told it. OK, now that you remember...thats exactly what happened with the Bible, esp. the old testament, think about how many years and people that the stories in the Bible got passed through. God didn't write the Bible, therefore, how can really believe any story in the Bible without believing that some/most of it is exaggeration. Here's a thought...maybe the "God" people refer to in the Bible didn't do all that stuff they claimed, maybe he did stuff similiar to the stories but had not been seen by people before, and they were so amazed they HAD to exaggerate their stories because his actions made himself a "God" in their eyes.
