DJ Hyphy
Bay Area Hip Hop History 101
Rap Singles (1981–1990) — CD
(HYP-002)
Bay Area Hip-Hop History 101 is the first CD in the new limited ediiton, 100 volume "Bay Area Hip-Hop History" mix-CD series. This opening volume, mixed by DJ Hyphy, captures the Yay way back in the day, from the very first Bay Area hip-hop single by Motorcycle Mike in 1981 (#19) on through the rest of the decade: back when hip-hop (particularly Bay Area) was still in its infancy. Back when Oakland was still in the "415" area-code and when every Bay Area "rap" record gave much love to the DJ, and when there was no discrimination between "hip-hop" and "rap."
