I was doin' some online research for something and came across some old articles that appeared in the Fairfield Daily Republic back in '95 and '96. All were written by a guy named Matt Peiken.
There are some glaring mistakes in them, but they're still interesting to read after all these years.
These first three were in the 8/25/96 edition of the paper and were a three story package. The title of the combined pieces is "Playin' Tha Game: The Culture of Local Rap".
1) "Some see rap as their only hope for a future"
2) "St. Charles: Preacher pushes two kinds of gospel under one roof"
3) "Mob beats have made Mike Mosley a hot commodity in the studio"
This one is about Murder Dog magazine and appeared in the 5/19/95 edition of the paper. Again, there are some mistakes in the article, but a good read anyway.
"Murder Dog Magazine: The Stark Voice of East Bay Rap"
On his site there's a link to an article he did on E-40, but it doesn't work unfortunately.
