IM NOT EVEN TRIPPIN OFF THE GIMMICCS AND TOPICS BUT IVE BEEN LISTENIN TO RAP SINCE 1979(before some of u were born).I KNOW WHAT A WACC RAPPER SOUNDS LIKE AND THATS ONE REASON I DONT LISTEN TO LIL B'S MUSIC.I CANT EVEN DESCRIBE IT. I LET MY GIRL HEAR THE TRACC HE SENT ME TO GET ON AND SHE SAID IT INSTANTLY GAVE HER A HEADACHE.HONEST 2 GOD TRUTH.ONE THING MY G-POPS TAUGHT ME AT A YOUNG AGE IS YOUR IMAGE WILL FOLLOW U TO YOUR GRAVE.SHITTIN ON YOURSELF ON STAGE WOULD BE ORIGINAL ALSO BUT NOBODY WOULD FOLLOW THAT MOVEMENT. ALL THIS "IM GAY,I GOT AIDS,LOOK LIKE JESUS SHIT HAS GOT TO HAVE SOME KINDA KARMA ATTACHED TO IT.HE PLAYIN WITH FIRE IMO.

the characteristics that lil b embodies are influenced by things that most rap fans don't have a connection to and can't relate to, so honestly it's not surprising that it's hard for a lot of people on here to get into.

it's obvious that lil b takes from here-and-there (punk rock, gangster rap, electronic music, etc.) and makes his own little thing out of it. if gangster rap is the only one of his frame of reference that you can relate to, of course the other parts will throw you off because you're not checking for them and never will.

it's not his fault and it's not your fault, and it's not even the huge moral conflict some people make it out to be when you look at it objectively, because "hoes on my dick cause i look like jesus" or "i got AIDS" is honestly a mild statement in the context of punk rock and even contemporary art. it's even ok (and common) to not be good at your instrument in punk rock, because that's not the point. the artform isn't based on having the highest level of technical acumen and neither is lil b's raps.

you may not realize it, but you're mad at lil b for having more diverse influences and frames of references than the artists you're checking for. that's the root of it.

A COUPLE MINUTES OUT MY DAY 2 EXPRESS WHAT I FEEL IS NOT WASTING MY TIME.IVE ALWAYS CRITICIZED RAPPERS,WAY BEFORE THE SICCNESS WAS INVENTED.I DONT CALL PPL HATERS IF THEY DONT LIKE MY IMAGE.WE ALL HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND SO DOES LIL B.
BUT IF RAPPERS MAKE EXPLICIT MUSIC AGAINST RELIGION OR SUPPORTING HOMOSEXUALITY AND PROMOTIN THAT SHIT WHERE I RESIDE,IMMA SAY WHAT I PLEASE JUST LIKE THEM.I CAN SUPPORT AIDS AWARENESS AT ANY LEVEL CUZ ITS A REAL CRISIS BUT IM A SUPPORTER OF WEST COAST MUSIC PERIOD AND I CARE WHERE THE LEGACY ENDS UP.IF THIS WAS A CHURCH GROUP I COULD SYMPATHIZE BUT ITS NOT. IF YALL THINK PROMOTIN GAYNESS 2 OUR NEXT GENERATION IS COOL I HOPE U END UP WITH A PENITENTIARY VISIT SO ALL YOUR FAIRY FAG DREAMS CAN COME TRUE.BEING BOLD AND OUTSPOKEN DOES NOT MAKE SOMEONE A GOOD ARTIST.MOST GAYS ARE THAT ANYWAY. I THINK THIS SHIT IS RIDICULOUS,BUT IM SET IN MY WAYS ANYWAY. AT LEAST I GET AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW INFLUENTIAL THIS CORNY SHIT IS NOWDAYS.IMMA STAY SOLID AND KEEP CLOWNIN CUZ THATS WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY AT THE END OF THE DAY.TAKE IT HOW U WANT 2!!!!! WCM
Hey, you have the right to an opinion...as do i. But as expressed in my other post, i just dont care about what other people do with their lives in terms of lifestyle. If some dude wants to fuck another dude in the privacy of his own home, how does that affect me? It doesn't, plain & simple. While I thinks its disgusting, if i dont see have to witness it...do what the fuck you wanna do, as Devin would say.

And just to be clear, you dont HAVE to watch Lil B videos and you dont HAVE to listen to Lil B albums. Express your American given right to have a choice.

I think a guy from Das Racist is from San Francisco... why not make threads about how he is so gay and hipster.

Why the attention on Lil B? I mean honestly, you talk about him more then your favorite rapper. Lil B seems to always give you something to talk about.

Hate him or not... his fanbase is deep.

when you came out you were a rebel. pushing a hard line for gangsta shit like you did was rebellious, and arguably nobody had done it like you had before. your content and music was an affront to the concept that hip-hop is just a fun thing revolving around having a good time, being conscious of world issues, and partying or w/e the fuck some people would lead you to believe at the time. you were banged out making some shit that confronted real mindsets in the community and exposed the mentality of someone who really didn't give a fuck. you changed the direction of an artform people loved.

everything lil b does today is a rebellion in a different way. regardless of whether he smoking meth, sherm, drinking robitussin or lean or w/e the fuck he does or doesn't do. he's confronting the prevailing logic of rap and music in general in a way hip-hop has never been used for before. and in doing so he's changing the direction of an artform people love, just like you did.

...oh okay, so all lil b has ever said into a microphone is "young based god."

"randomly sprinkling paint onto a canvas is not artistic expression." that's been said before too, and it was wrong as well.

@ANTILABS....I ACTUALLY LEARNED HOW 2 RAP ON THE EAST COAST WHERE ALL THERE WAS 2 BE INFLUENCED BY WAS REAL HIP HOP. I JUST HAPPENED 2 SIGN 2 A GANGSTA RAP LABEL AND FIT IN PRETTY WELL CUZ I REALLY HAD EXPERIENCE FROM LIVIN IN LOS ANGELES AND FRESNO. MY GRANDFATHER WAS A GANGSTA AND MILITARY SERGEANT.I BEEN AROUND GUNS SINCE BIRTH.I CANT CHANGE WHATS IN MY BLOOD,CUZZ. THE WEST COAST LIFESTYLE MADE ME THE ARTIST I AM TODAY. I WAS PRETTY MUCH A BATTLERAPPER TIL NWA CAME OUT AND SOMETHING ABOUT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION MADE ME WANT TO TELL MY STORY FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE INSTEAD OF TRYING 2 OUTRAP PEOPLE.DONT BLAME ME,GANGSTA SHIT WAS GOING ON WAY BEFORE I RELEASED ALBUMS.I GOT PUT ON MY HOOD 15 YEARS BEFORE MR. MAFIOSO EVEN TOUCHED A SHELF.
AND EVEN THOUGH MANY OF THE MUSIC EXECS IN THE BIZ ARE HOMO...U RARELY SEE GAY RAP GETTIN PUBLICITY EVEN THOUGH ITS DONE.MY POINT IS,I AM JUST A STATISTIC AS FAR AS GANGSTA RAP GOES AND MY INTENT WAS NOT 2 TURN PEOPLE INTO GANGBANGERS BUT I ALWAYS WANTED 2 BE A TRENDSETTER AS FAR AS FREEDOM OF SPEECH GOES. AND I NEVER PROMOTED WHAT I RAPPED.I JUST RECORDED IT AND LET IT DO WHAT IT DO.MAYBE THATS CUZ I WAS REALLY IN THE STREETS DURING THAT TIME AND NOT ON NO GIMMICC SHIT. IT IS WHAT IT IS AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH PPL BEING DIFFERENT THAN WHAT I AM.MY FAVORITE MUSICAL GROUP IS MINT CONDITION. MY FAVORITE RAPPER EVER IS RAKIM. AND MY PREFERENCE IS TO BE HIGHLY HETEROSEXUAL,AWARE OF AIDS AND ALL KINDS OF DISEASES AND PROBABLY HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND TALENT 2 MAKE GOOD SONGS ON THOSE TOPICS BUT THATS NOT REALLY MY PASSION. IF LIL B'S TRUE PASSION IS MAKING PEOPLE AWARE,I RESPECT THAT BUT I STILL DONT THINK HIS MUSIC IS GROUNDBREAKING OR EVEN PLEASURABLE 2 MY TASTE.IM NOT SAYING WHAT I FEEL ABOUT HIM SHOULD BE A FACT FOR EVERYBODY,ITS NO MORE THAN ONE MANS OPINION. I KINDA FEEL LIKE WE BEATIN A DEAD HORSE. RAP MUSIC WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE EASIEST THINGS 2 DEBATE AND CRITICIZE.I RESPECT WHAT YALL SAYIN...JUST DONT PERSONALLY ATTACC ME 4 WHAT I FEEL CUZ IT MAKES ME WANT 2 GET OUT OF CHARACTER CUZ EVERYBODY IS BEIN A LIL HYPOCRITICAL AT THIS POINT.DONT FORGET SICCNESS.NET IS PUBLIC RECORD...I READ ALOT OF POSTS FROM YALL THAT I COULD DEBATE BUT ITS REALLY NOT WORTH IT CUZ ITS A FREE WEBSITE WITH FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND AS A COMMUNITY AINT NOTHIN WRONG WITH TOSSIN AROUND OUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ABOUT WHATS GOIN ON IN OUR WORLD TODAY. MUCH LUV 2 ALL YALL...UNLESS YOURE JUST A TAY HATER OF COURSE. HAVE A GOOD TUESDAY. WCM

I don't have a lot of time hit it more later but you're giving lil B way too much credit trying to compare him to abstract expressionism etc. Lil B is neither a folk artist (like wesley wills) not is he some great post-modern artistic mind that has skillfully taken aspects of our culture and meshed them. He's a weird, and gross bastardization of both of those with some one or some hipster influence def. sprinkling him with game here and there.
