HOLLYWOOD (KTLA) -- Police in Hollywood detained a man dressed as SpongeBob Squarepants after a fight involving two women.
It happened Tuesday outside Grauman's Chinese Theater, according to authorities.
"The two women flagged down one of our passing police cars [and] talked to an officer," said LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith.
The man was questioned but was not arrested, because no one wanted to file any charges.
Authorities say there have been several run-ins involving tourists and characters who pose for pictures on Hollywood Boulevard.
According to one report, a man dressed as Captain America was recently arrested after groping a woman as she was posing for a photo with him.
In another incident, a man dressed as Spider-Man was arrested on outstanding warrants after he allegedly slugged someone.
Just last summer, police began cracking down on street performers and costumed characters on Hollywood Boulevard.
Authorities say some of the characters have become aggressive about receiving tips from tourists.
The characters can accept tips, but city rules prohibit them from asking for money
