This shit is fucked up..........I heard a little different story from this one. I heard the off duty STL cop shot dude point blank while he was standing there. He was not even involed with the fight. My aunt works with the mom of the 25 year old that got shot and he is near death. Critical Condition right now.
St. Louis police officer involved in weekend shooting at Pontoon Beach bar will be released
KSDK -- A St. Louis police officer will be released from jail this evening, but a grand jury will decide at a later date whether or not to indict him.
Illinois State police said the off-duty officer got into a fight in the parking lot at Mac and Mick's sports bar in Pontoon Beach Sunday.
Investigators said another bar patron, Jeff Bladdick, 25, of Granite City, came out and was shot and injured by the officer.
The officer's attorney said his client shot in self defense after he was blindsided by an unknown attacker.
But Illinois State Police said up to 50 people were at the bar and this is the first time they've heard the self defense argument. Captain Mark Bramlett said, "I can't get into specifics of what witnesses told us at the scene, but there were people who did tell us that was not the case."
A Pontoon Beach police officer who responded to the fight, shot and injured another off-duty officer from St. Louis. Capt. Bramlett wouldn't say whether or not that shooting was justified.
That part of the case will be presented to the Madison County state's attorney later this week or next week
