Yea, but it wasn't a shot at the coast as a whole, it was a shot at certain folks. That doesn't make it a coastal beef, it makes it beef between certain people...because some folks weren't showin' respect.
thanks for proving my point, they helped take part in what the media "created" (the east vs west coast "fued")...it doesnt matter how many people were involved, it all comes down to adding more fuel to the fire...

Mobb Deep responded to what Dogg Pound said wasn't a dis track...so that makes the LA, LA song just a shot in the dark because dudes felt disrespected over a video.
again listen to the lyrics on the hook

"new york, new york big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems, you might get fooled if you come from outta town, but i'm down by law, and i'm from out the dogg pound"

"Too much, I serve too many people, too much, It's too much, I serve too many people, And when I finish servin ain't gon be no sequel"

why would a group of rappers who felt "disrespected" by new york at the source awards..no less than a year later drop a track called "NY NY"?? explain that...ha lets not forgot the video where they're steppin on cars and crushing buildings lol...LA LA isnt a "shot in the dark" it's a response, in an almost exact equal way (no disses on verses, just on the hooks).along with a video that showed a fake Daz Dillinger with a bag over his head getting thrown off Queens Bridge lol...

On top of that, was it Funkmaster Flex who was instigating shit? 'Cause from what the Bodyguard, Frank Alexander said, was that it was Biggie and somebody else on the radio talkin' shit, telling New Yorkers that 'Pac was in town, when 2Pac wasn't even present. They were on the radio saying some shit like "2Pac and The Dogg Pound are in town, how you gonna let these cats come over here and disrespect our city", or whatever the fuck. Which, in my opinion, would make it a personal attack on 2Pac more than the Dogg Pound.
well i've read, and heard many different versions of what led to the shooting, their was even a story about Capone from CNN being the actual shooter at the video shoot...

About the Source Awards, the crowd wasn't pist off 'cause of Snoop, the crowd was pist off because Suge went on stage and took a shot at Puffy. Suge came out and opened his mouth talkin' about "If you want to be on a label, and not have the CEO, all on the record...or all in the video...COME TO DEATH ROW"....that was before Dre and Snoop even hit the stage. That's why the crowd wasn't showing 'em any love, because they were there with Suge. Did you see that whole clip? Or just the part where Snoop was talking?
more fuel to the fire...thats all it is, have you seen the concert footage of puffy and big onstage, biggie sittin on his "throne" while puffy yells "this aint west coast sh!t, it's all about the east coast" or something to that extent, it's th same thing as what you've mentioned here..just fuel to the fire

That has to be some of the dumbest shit I've ever read upon these boards. So Elvis really didn't have any talent at all? The only reason he sold millions upon millions is because he was white? Yeahhhhhhh how about stfu and head to class you idiot.

yeah pretty much, eminem has even admitted this...eminem has talent, but you got people who dont even buy rap records buying eminem records because he's a white rapper that appeals to white people in some way

Eminem blew up because he appealed to EVERYBODY in some way. It's just like Howard Stern, he was more famous among those that HATED him, because they wanted to hear what he would say next. It's a phenomenon that has yet to be understood.

It's true though, if he wasn't white he wouldn't have been THAT big...he would have been BIG still, but not a damn superstar like he is. It probably has to do with what I said in the first paragraph, along with the fact that he related to white folks coming from broken homes, who otherwise didn't listen to rap because they couldn't relate to the hood shit. At the same time, Em was felt by folks from the black community because of where he's been and what he's dealt with. He's seen the worst of both worlds, so he can touch the folks who have seen the same.

As far as Elvis, well, he was a corporate invention like a lot of rock stars...and even though I don't listen to Elvis, I like the way he did the music...regardless of who did it first. You know, if I heard LITTLE RICHARD sing HOUND DOG, I'd probably like that version better...but I haven't heard Little Richard sing it, so I have no choice but to say I think Elvis did it up with the music he recorded. It all depends on who you hear do it and your taste...somebody might want to hear SMASHMOUTH sing "Don't Be Cruel", and like it better than Elvis....so it's all relative to taste.

Bullit, we're going to have to agree to disagree...because people see the East/West thing differently, depending on what version they heard or what they saw as it unfolded in the 90's. I'm going off what I gathered as it was goin' down...but I can't say for sure what X-CLAN or Biggie's intentions were. So, unless you know the intentions of every rapper, it's a futile argument on both our parts.

You should seriously take that into consideration.
so what? the people that support bay rappers, can't have an opinion?...you guys that cry about people complaining are just as bad as the people complaining about biters all the time, infact you're doing exactly what they do. why you even respond in these threads and continue to push them up puzzles me...

WTF You all havnt forgotten that Three 6 pretty much made frayser boy and he be from the bay. so fuck it
Go to mapquest and type in Frayser, Tn and u will see its a hood in Memphis, Tn. Lil Wyte and Frayser Boy are not from nowhere close to da Bay Area in Cali. Why are they always screamin' somethin' about da Bay Area then u ask? "Bay" means dope in da Frayser area in Memphis cause back in da mid 90s a lot of dope was moved thru that area so they just started callin' it that "bay" (Bay Area aka Frayser). It has nothin' to da wit a body of water in Memphis like some of yall seem to think.

Why yall think Frayser Boy's first album was called "Gone on That Bay"? He meant gone on that dope and if u noticed nobody from da real Bay Area was on that album and he doesn't even have a Cali accent.

As far as da new "Ghostridin" song goes from Lil Wyte, he just showin' luv to a culture even tho he didn't "shout" yall out, believe me he is. And like some in this thread have said, I can name a lot of songs where Bay Area artist did a south influenced track and didn't shout us out, but we ain't gonna get mad about it and make a thread talkin' down, cause we know its all good and da west and south always gonna be connected. Hell evy black person's roots go back to da south.

Hope I cleared some shit up fa yall. Be easy.
