They call him the KING OF ROCK because he took it to a whole new level. He might have taken material, but he put his own twist on the shit. Did you know that the 50's, 60's and 70's were all about re-doing other peoples shit? Almost everybody, BLACK AND WHITE in the music business, took other peoples songs and made it their own. Just think about how many versions of all those popular songs are out there.

That's how the industry got down back then, and it's kinda how the industry gets down NOW! You ever notice that most rap hits took something from another song? You ever watch American Idol? If you can sing, GREAT, but if you can't make the song your own, you have no business in the business. That's just how it works...if you can make a hit sound even better, than you're a fuckin genius in music. People need to STOP BLAMING ELVIS!
Elvis stole his whole style from black artist who were not allowed on telivision nor the radio(explain what twist he put on it). He did not perform better or sound better than them(he was just white). They used to take black artist music and have white artist redo them, not because it was popular, but because they were racist.

That's part of why East Coast cats were pist off, because the West wasn't giving credit where credit is due. RAP is part of HIP HOP. Hip Hop is not a style of music only, it's a CULTURE!
thanks for proving my point...he's not giving any credit to the bay area in the song, which is why you have people from the bay area, in this thread commenting negatively about the track...

About the East/West Feuds, obviously you weren't paying any attention during that era, because it wasn't no East/West feud. It was certain rappers goin' at other certain rappers on some respect shit, among other things. Pac at Biggie, the West at Tim Dog, Pac at Nas, Pac at Jay Z, and a few other feuds that didn't make the headlines much because they weren't long and drawn out. WestSide Connection wasn't even goin' at East Coast Rappers, they were goin' out the East Coast Bias created by the critics.

Where have YOU been the past 20 years?
you need to do your research, you had cats like MOP, Jeru The Damaja, AZ going on WEST COAST radio stations and telling people not to support west coast music, because they werent "real hip hop"....you had dudes like Q-Tip, and Bad Boy artist dissing the west on various underground mixtapes. lol did you just skim through the westside connection LP? they basically mock east coast rap artist on that cd "why you talkin loud, what you talkin about" as well as attacking various east coast rappers on certain tracks....not to mention the LA LA, NY NY tracks that were coming out...sure the media fueled things, maybe even started it, but still, it was a hell of alot more then what your making it out to be.

the east is treating the south the same way, alot of artist over there have expressed their distaste for "crunk" music recently...

The Black Eyed Peas are not from the BAY, where people think they created GOIN DUMB, GETTIN STUPID, etc....
first off "lets get retarded in here" isn't exactly a "hyphy" type of song, so i dont know why you would use that as an example i dont even know why i argued this with you, the Black Eyed Peas sound is NOTHING like the bay area...they make pop songs that get played in kids movies, they dont make hyphy songs...now this Lil wyte song is CLEARLY a take on the hyphy "movement"

That's a few artists, but cats on both coasts were still fuckin' with each other.

About the West Side Connection, did YOU skim through the CD? That song was a shot at the critics, and the backpackers. "Fuck all the critics in the NYC, tryin' to have an East, Hip Hop Monopoly". That song is called ALL CRITICS IN NEW YORK. It's not a shot at the East, it's a shot at the folks speakin' down on the West. Rappers, critics, magazines, etc. A lot of the dissin' on there was at Cypress, and they aren't East Coast.

About NY, NY...the Dogg Pound claimed and still claims that it wasn't a dis track...and Mobb Deep...well, enough said. lol.

If you LISTEN to what the artists say about the whole East/West thing, the artists that were INVOLVED, you would know the real on that whole situation. The Media fueled the fire and blew everything out of proportion. It was a couple of isolated beefs and shit, that the media turned into a coastal rivalry that never really existed. That's the real on that, and if you want to disagree, do your homework on the matter. Yes, a few rappers here and there were at each other, and at the other coast, but it wasn't as big as you think it was...it just seemed that way because the media was reporting on it.

That has to be some of the dumbest shit I've ever read upon these boards. So Elvis really didn't have any talent at all? The only reason he sold millions upon millions is because he was white? Yeahhhhhhh how about stfu and head to class you idiot.

three black men invented rock and roll and thats where elvis got all his ideas from to "take it to a new level" .. not just the songs he raped... all the moves, the controversy, the sexual connotations, mixing gospel blues and bluegrass, old school country with r&b and suggestive lyrics had all been done before by little richard, chuck berry and bo didley.

everybody is so mad somebody should do a dis song directed towards the guy from memphis, oh wait that will just give him even more exposure...kinda like this 7 page thread about some guy who supposedly doesn't even write his own raps, how can you even be mad at him he didn't even write it....if your so mad instead of focusing on some irrelevant ass shit i will tell you how to get even with this lil wyte character, if you care so much, instead of using your energy to type useless complaints about biting, support the bay area music scene and go join a street team or go buy cds from bay area artists or something, all this thread is doing is making MORE people buy this guy from across the countries prewritten raps

What is so funny is that there are threads on here saying how all of this shit would happen, and how niggaz in the bay would get mad just like we did when other people blew up while being inspired by us the first time around.

thats nice, but it doesnt change the fact that their were things taking place on both coast...

The title doesnt change the fact that they mocked east coast rappers in the song...ever heard of X-Clan? "to the west, my niggas to the west" or how about "brooklyns in the house" you think thats just a shot at critics...thats clearly a mockery...stop skimmin through shit and maybe you would have caught that lol...

About NY, NY...the Dogg Pound claimed and still claims that it wasn't a dis track...and Mobb Deep...well, enough said. lol.
i like how you try to excuse mobb deep as if that proves some point, doesnt change the fact that they responded with LA, LA....and the fact dogg pound got blasted at in NY when they were filming the video, after funkmaster flex makes a fuss about NYers letting out of towners come through disrespecting them...or how about the source awards? where snoop called out NYers for showing the west no love...

Yea, but it wasn't a shot at the coast as a whole, it was a shot at certain folks. That doesn't make it a coastal beef, it makes it beef between certain people...because some folks weren't showin' respect.

Mobb Deep responded to what Dogg Pound said wasn't a dis track...so that makes the LA, LA song just a shot in the dark because dudes felt disrespected over a video.

On top of that, was it Funkmaster Flex who was instigating shit? 'Cause from what the Bodyguard, Frank Alexander said, was that it was Biggie and somebody else on the radio talkin' shit, telling New Yorkers that 'Pac was in town, when 2Pac wasn't even present. They were on the radio saying some shit like "2Pac and The Dogg Pound are in town, how you gonna let these cats come over here and disrespect our city", or whatever the fuck. Which, in my opinion, would make it a personal attack on 2Pac more than the Dogg Pound.

About the Source Awards, the crowd wasn't pist off 'cause of Snoop, the crowd was pist off because Suge went on stage and took a shot at Puffy. Suge came out and opened his mouth talkin' about "If you want to be on a label, and not have the CEO, all on the record...or all in the video...COME TO DEATH ROW"....that was before Dre and Snoop even hit the stage. That's why the crowd wasn't showing 'em any love, because they were there with Suge. Did you see that whole clip? Or just the part where Snoop was talking?

It's been said thousands of times, but just want to say it again.

Fans from the Bay Area (not artists) take this music shit to the extreme. I'm from the Bay Area, born and raised in Oakland, 21 years, I love Bay Area music (with the exception of the "Hyphy" music), but I'm not the one to treat this shit like we're the only ones doing it (rap/music). Yes, the Bay created/started this and that, and yes, someone else from another area is using it in their songs. But look at all the shit that people and artists from the Bay Area are using that comes from other places. You don't see them on hear bitching and complaining about it. It's exposure for them and their area(s), just like someone saying "ghostride the whip" is exposure for the Bay. Stop whinning like some little 5 year old girls about this shit; take it as a compliment. Be happy that they are recognizing and showing love to what we created, whether they shout out "one love to the Bay Area" or not. Everyone knows where it came from.

My two cents.
