Ive been thinkin... Does anyone here still listen to the Black Eyed Peas??????
I still remember when they first came out they were regarded as pure hip-hop until they let that teeny-bopper Ferg-muffin in their group they transformed their sound & style to pure pop!!! Then they sold out until they reached to their height when theyre now no longer hip-hop anymore... Hence their latest singles LMAO!!!!!! So siccness what are your thoughts about them today?????? Do they still have the hip-hop essence in them or not??????

IF they drop that bitch, hopefully they can get back to their original sound.

They were the "Atban Klann" while at Ruthless. Yes, Fergie was around at the time they were the Atban Klann...... she has told many stories about the Ruthless Days......but I do not believe she ended up recording anything with them. Yes, the Atban Klann CD did leak on the net, it was called "Grass Roots". It was recorded in 93 - 94. It is easy to find.

The Atban Klann, (A Tribe Beyond a Nation) was a hip hop group whose members were Will 1X, apl.de.ap, Mookie Mook, DJ Motiv8 & Dante Santiago. The Atban Klann were signed to Eazy-E's Ruthless Records. Two of the members of the hip hop group eventually became the Black Eyed Peas.

The group was signed to Ruthless Records in 1992 and made their debut on Eazy-E's EP, 5150: Home 4 tha Sick on the track entitled, Merry Muthaphuckkin' Xmas. Soon after, the duo recorded their debut album, Grass Roots which was to be released on October 6, 1992, however the album was shelved shortly before its release. The duo would stay with Ruthless until they were dropped from the label after Eazy-E's death in 1995. Will 1X would change his name to will.i.am and the Atban Klann would add Taboo and become the Grammy award winning band, Black Eyed Peas.

I have their old shit and yshe aint on no old songs or in any pics, so if she was with them back in the day what was her name...was she the mookie mook person or what? I doubt she was with them early in their career.

edit: this is from their website proving she wasn't in the group from the beginning -

"Before recording that album [Monkey Business], the three original members of The Black Eyed Peas – will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo – had been ensnared by personal demons. "I remember that we were each talking about the things that were haunting us and seemed to be crippling us," recalls will.i.am. Adding the vocal talents of singer, Fergie, the group used music as a therapeutic vehicle."

I thought the same........You never heard anything about her back then......but in a recent interview, Fergie told stories about "her" days at Ruthless. How some members / staff at Ruthless tried to rape her or something like that in the studio. I will try to find it.

Here is something else I found :

The Black Eyed Peas was formed back in 1989 when Wil.i.am and Apl.de.ap met and began rapping and performing together around Los Angeles. The duo signed to Ruthless Records (managed by Eazy-E) after catching the attention of Eazy-E, manager Jerry Heller’s nephew. Together with their other friends, Dante Santiago, they called their trio Atban Klann. But, their debut album was not released because Ruthless Records did not believe that the positive ideas indicated in the group’s music are marketable to the audience. It was in 1995, after the death of Eazy-E that Atban Klann reformed the group to Black Eyed Peas, named so because according to will.i.am “Black Eyed Peas are the food for the soul”.
