SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean government officials said North Korea performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test Monday, the South’s Yonhap news agency reported.

South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun convened an urgent meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported.

The North said last week it would conduct a nuclear test as part of its deterrent against a possible U.S. invasion.

sad that a improvished nation that cant feed a portion of its own people and trows another portion into gulags is a nuclear power now, that 9 or 10 nations now, Japan might go nuclear next and scrap the pacfist part in it's consituation and built up it milltary and Japan being a milltary again scares most the world more than a famine strucken North Korea.

So whats thier total # of nukes at? They blew one up, i cant imagine they have more than 3 left at the moment. I wonder if they were really dedicated on locating every N.Korean in the area when they warned the residents in the area before letting it off. Does the radiation leak into the atmosphere and come down in S.Korea or what??

Watch George Bush get on TV and start talking about, "As I've said, this is WW3 and we're going to fight!"

I believe the estimate was somewhere around 2-5 nukes about a year ago.

This is what you get when you let the "international community" run the show.
