No Limit rapper Mr. Magic died in a tragic car accident on Friday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. According to the Times-Picayune, Magic (born Awood Johnson) and his wife were killed but their daughter survived the crash. The rapper was 37 years old.
Silkk The Shocker, who was also on the No Limit roster alongside Magic, tweeted his condolences, "Prayers goes to the Family and Friends of Mr. Magic. him and Wife died in a car accident last night.." Mystikal also shared this thoughts. "RIP TO MY BROTHER. MR MAGIC & HIS WIFE! GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES" via Twitter as did producer Mannie Fresh who shared, "R.I.P. MR MAGIC Please keep his family, friends in ur prayers #GreatDude #9thWard."
Mr. Magic debuted with his 1998 album Sky's the Limit which peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The effort featured other No Limit artists like Master P, Mystikal and Fiend. Most recently, the New Orleans native released singles on his own Banx Entertainment label.
“He was a passionate guy. He loved his siblings; he loved his wife. There’s a comfort in knowing that neither of them has to live without the other. That makes it more bearable," Magic's sister Timisha Brooks told the Times Picayune.
