Police are looking for a teenager who shot a man twice after being refused when he asked the man for a cigarette and a dollar.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department said the victim, a Bay Point resident in his 40s, was walking near a shopping center in unincorporated Contra Costa County early Monday morning when he came upon five male teenagers.
One of the teens asked the man for a cigarette and a dollar. When the man told him he didn't have either, the boy took out a gun and shot him twice, the victim told police. He was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Authorities say the boys were likely between 15 and 17 years old and wore black hooded sweat shirts and black pants.
