Two Niners free-agent newcomers who we’re told didn’t exactly set the world on fire in the team’s first minicamp were S Michael Lewis, who did not look good at all in coverage, and OLB Tully Banta-Cain, who reportedly tipped the scales in the 290-pound range. On the other side of the coin, we hear the Niners were very impressed with the movement skills of fourth-round LB-DE Jay Moore.

  • The Raiders’ addition of free-agent WR Travis Taylor puts pressure on disappointing former first-round pick Mike Williams to produce out of the gate. Williams has the advantage of knowing Lane Kiffin’s offense from their time together at USC, but Taylor figures to have the inside track at the No. 3 role behind Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry.
  • Oakland plans on giving MLB Kirk Morrison freedom to call more plays on the field this season, which is viewed as a real indication of how much they trust the third-year player.

Yeah that was the knock on Michael Lewis back in Philly. He stuggles in pass coverage...I think that's why he lost his starting job in Philly.

I don't know what's up with Mike Williams... He hasn't done anything since being drafted to the NFL.

He's out of shape and has no desire to get into shape, or anything else for that matter
