Apparently there was something with his physicality after doing some tests WWE requires new signees to pass, and WWE pulled his contract offer...they were probably scared that he's had a couple of bicep tears and didn't wanna sign someone who might be injury prone.

So TNA signed him and they taped his debut yesterday, his new name is Desmond Wolfe.

Should be interesting to see how they use him, its looking up already. He attacks Kurt Angle on this Thursday's Impact and will be facing him at Turning Point

Bryan Danielson did pass his tests and is still signing to WWE though..

So Danielson did infact go with WWE huh? Because I thought I had heard he was going to TNA as well after WWE had drug their feet to actually sign either of them . Maybe its just me I'm not to high on Nigel Mcguness I didn't think he was WWE material at all. Danielson on the other hand that guy reminds me of a cross between a young Chris Benoit and Keiji Mutoh. Badass performer! Just cracks me up you'd never think it just by looking at him. Dude almost looks like Kyle Orton from The Denver Broncos a little bit.

so basically somewhat of a trade off...booker t to wwe(if he does go) and tna gets danielson...fine by me, but all in all WWE did drop the ball on this one...i woudlnt be surprised if triple h had a say in it or not in signing him sooner since hes such a cry baby bout staying in the top spot

Nigel McGuinness signs with TNA and NOT WWE

Published by Big D at 12:55 pm under News, Pro Wrestling, ROH, TNA, WWE

Jason Powell reported earlier today that former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness, rather than sign with World Wrestling Entertainment as it was thought, instead has opted to sign with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and will be debuting (technically re-debuting since he’s worked a few shots there before) tonight at the Impact tapings.

You’re probably wondering “what the hell?” I can shed some light into this.

This is incredibly shocking news to me and all of my fellow wrestling fans. About a month ago, Nigel agreed in principle to join WWE. His last independent match was at the end of September and both he and Bryan Danielson were scheduled to report to Stamford for entrance interviews. The process of officially signing with WWE is not instant, as neither athlete had their name on the dotted line (which caused a lot of confusion among fans not in the know).

When an athlete is signed by World Wrestling Entertainment, they are to complete a background check, a drug and wellness initial screening, as well as take care of any pertinent Work Visa issues if they are international talent. A talent is NOT officially contractually bound to World Wrestling Entertainment until all of the pre-signing policies have been fully completed.

We can only speculate as to what happened. I am uncertain as to why exactly Nigel had a change of heart, but it’s best NOT to speculate that he failed the initial wellness test or anything. Did TNA offer him more money? Perhaps Nigel preferred to work in Orlando near Largo, FL, where he currently lives. We are unsure, but I promise you that we will keep you posted.

All that we know is Nigel IS backstage at the tapings and is set to debut tonight. Stay tuned to FGB!

P.S. Powell also states Bryan Danielson may also sign with TNA.

Update 4:18PM from Dave Meltzer on the Observer Message Board: Don’t criticize WWE for this. Hopefully I can write the story in detail by tomorrow but all the key elements are still off the record. Suffice to say it’s very different than being reported. Bryan not part of this deal. Also, there will be plenty more at TV tonight.

WOW! Now that was a debut! I didn't think Nigel Mcguiness had it in him. They found a great storyline to bring him in and they put him over huge and he delivered both on the mic and with his ring work. Maybe dude will be a star after all. And the new name Desmond Wolfe sounds way better that Nigel Mcguiness in my opinion. I'm not spoiling anything for those of you who may have missed it.

I liked how he debuted. He came off as a sneaky heel. If he did sign with WWE who knows what he would have been doing by now. Sitting on the bench or wrestling every other week on ECW.
