Ive used the search function and haven't really found exactly what I'm looking for. I just need to know what all I need for a small studio setup.

I'm wanting to purchase a home studio setup capable of recording high quality vocals for releasing an album. I've read a lot about software but there isn't too much to help a total newB with equipment.

Should I go the computer route or stand alone equipment? Any suggestions on equipment? Brands? Models? I would most definitely like to be able to upgrade easily to do more as we learn what we are doing.

Money doesn't matter too much. As long as we are under 10G's it's ok. I would like to get the best value for my buck.

If you don't want to type out a long response please just point me in the right direction with a link.

I appreciate the help.

if your working with a 10 g budget you can have a real clean setup and still have some loot left over... i'd look into get protools Digi002 for recording, just be sure to have a decent computer with a FireWire port in it to hook it up too... next to that a decent pair of studio monitors which will run you about 500 or more for something worthwhile, and also a decent microphone, something in the 500-1000 range will do you great, also pay for quality CABLES to hook everything up too... i use Monster cables on every piece in my studio, theyre a little more expensive but the quality is superb, copper wiring, 24k gold plated connectors
