Shits long as hell though...

OK, first off I'd like to thank you for agreeing to do this interview for us. Can you please introduce yourself to our members?
VECT -
Shit man ain't no problem I appreciate it just as much. I come in 1 simple name & it's something that is also from an acronym. Some hear it & fuck it up so easily cuz it's like NEVER been heard. But it's just "VECT", people usually fuck it up before I spell it out for them, it sucks cuz it's sucha simple BUT really different name. The acronym for it is "Violent Edifice Contending Tonality". I also go by that on the regular too as a nickname & alias, 97% of the population know me by VECT so...whoop there it is.
Klown -
*laughs* I'll use VECT, the other is a damn mouthful to say. How long have you been rapping?
VECT -
Heh! Yes I agree...."VECT" (or "V") is just fine. Well "rapping" I've been doing since 2001, it's actually when I took music on a serious real level for the 1st time. If you wanna get technical I been doing music since 1995....but it was all for fun back then. In 2001 I stepped shit up a lot.
Klown -
Nice, so you was making music for awhile before getting the urge to really take things serious & go solo. Can you tell me a little about your origins & how you got into making music?
VECT -
Yeah dude I been watching & examining music for a long time....but when you do it yourself it's a lot different then expected.
It's been a mixture, I've always favored hard rock, metal, hip-hop (REAL hip-hop) & rap. I like all kinds of them too, like hardcore rap, gangster rap, horrorcore rap & hip-hop, death metal, black metal, hardcore metal, metal. I don't really limit myself either, even if it's a shitty genre I can like a good song from it (which is rare). Like even some fuckin' Garth Brooks or Johnny Cash has a decent song here & there....yeah I said it. Shit man good music is good music....but yeah I'm all about hard rock, hip-hop, metal & rap. Originally when I started making it I focused on a hard rock/metal style....I originally used to play guitar but GAWDAMN I was awful. I really tried to learn it too heheh. Drums I was always better at, but yeah I suck at that too. I'm a vocal person, always have been & when I realized it was MY thing I stopped trying to learn instruments. The mic is my sidekick & equalizer....we go together like tires on a car.
Klown -
Damn cool to know you put time in other areas before you went solo. Even holding down other instruments. Gives one a whole new feel to making music. I agree with ya on the music part. Don't hold yourself too one style or genre, be open minded & find the gems of every genre & blast them with pride. Good music is good music no matter who recorded it. How did you come up with your name?
VECT -
Yep...my taste in music has come in many forms...shit I still play an instrument even if I suck at playing it heh. The name thing was a random thing really, it really was...but it also made sense especially with the "V". Came out to make a lotta sense....I'm vengeful, violent, vicious, born & raised in Vegas, vile, I mean it made perfect sense. So as time progressed I possessed more commonalities with it & then I thought "....THIS works!".
Klown -
Definitely original that's for damn sure. How close are you with your fan base?
VECT -
Thx, I try to keep it different & versatile.
Shit man most my downest fans are homies as well, either that or we're talking over AIM or myspace ya know? If anyone knows anything about InVECTions then they know how I am with my fans. I don't shun or take advantage of my fans either, I leave that crap for the mainstream shitheads. At almost anytime I recieve a letter, a comment, maybe even a phone call showing me some villain love...I'm almost constantly returning it & showing my thx. If you don't respect your fans, not only will you not go anywhere but you're a straight up jackoff. I mean you're just an asshole if you don't care or have luv for your fans. Mine have given me a lotta fuel to keep my ass carrying on this long contorted road I call life. I've gone the distance for my fans, even when I was busted-ass-broke with no $ I would hook them up with free shit if I could at my brokest times man. Some have just up & left & quit listening & quit the unity between us but...it wasn't MY fault! You quit on me it's because of you! Cuz motherfuckers KNOW I cherish every single damn InVECTion.
Klown -
That's fuckin cool man. I like hearing shit like this. Definitely makes one wanna hang out & support anyone that's like that. Especially when they do their best to show love to their fans & get it back as much or more. Who are some of the artists that you've done shows with?
VECT -
Yeah I ain't no shady ass punk who's gonna mistreat their fans & supporters, that's bitch shit in my eyes. I always keep it connected with anyone who keeps it the same with me. Hmm shows...that depends on if ya mean big or small names. I've done shows with a lotta people, not big names really but I'm looking forward to in the future. My biggest name thus far was 3 yrs. ago with Marz here in Vegas. Which leads me to something else about shows...venues out here are NOT accepting to MC's. Chances are if you live in Vegas or wanna get a show out here & you're a rap or hip-hop artist they're gonna tell you to get fucked, unless you got a sweet connection or a lotta cash. Why you ask? 2 reasons) 1) Because they're mostly biased assholes who stereotype rap & hip-hop to be "vandal music". Like metal or hard rock isn't though right? 2) Not only the fact of the venue owners to be goat-blowers, but when people come out to shows 9 times outta 10 some asswipe people gotta be retarded & fuck it up for everyone. Whether be drunk & belligerent people, shit talkers, troublemakers....It's almost like clockwork man, it's pathetic & I wish it would stop. Of course I wish I had 46 billion dollars but hey....let's be realistic right? But yeah, a lotta good & awesome clubs & venues out here have been shut down due to people acting like idiots at a show. It's gotten to the point where you can't even wear beanies & rags (bandannas) inside a show, why? Cuz people are so stupid that if someone is by chance "gang related" that someone else from a rival gang is gonna flip out on them & then a shooting happens or something. It's even happened 2 nights after me & my old group did a show with Marz, someone got blasted in the head & they thought it was because of US. I mean you go to a show to have fun, to rock the fuck out, to relax & get away from every day shit. But people wanna be morons....therefore the fun gets decreased & less rap & hip-hop shows happen.
Klown -
Marz has some good music, his newer stuff I don't care for tho. Still sweet to hold the stage for him. It's getting to that point everywhere man. There's places in Ohio where there will never be any sorta Hip-Hop/Rap shows because of all the shit & drama they involve these days. Anyone that fucks up shows & venues, needs a major fuckin assbeating. Who are some of your musical influences?
VECT -
It's really murdering good music....that is WRONG to me, you wanna enjoy a show then go to "enjoy" the show, not to fuck it all up! Haha, man I can't even begin to name half of them. I have influences & inspirations of all aspects, to best explain it to ya....it's life in general man. Every single thing I've read, watched, listened to, witnessed, endured....it's influenced me.
Klown -
& that's how it should be. Should be able to draw influences from every aspect of life. Who are some of your favorite artists now?
VECT -
Hmm...well I'll name favorites only cuz I listen to a FUCKLOAD of music. My ipod looks like a local library directory. Well with rap & hip-hop in general I would have to say: Myzery, Eminem, DZK, Brotha Lynch Hung, Esham, Tech N9ne, Natas, Ice Cube, Q Strange, Krayzie Bone, X-Raided & of course Eazy-E. Now as for metal & hard rock in general: Nirvana, Pantera, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Dope, God Dethroned, Korn (Old), Bloodbath, Damageplan. Keep in mind that's just my favorites.
Klown -
Minus like three acts out of that, I have to say I'm with you on every one of them. Damn good list of musical artist's there. Where do you get the inspiration for your music?
VECT -
This life man....I examine & look at everything in my life & I grab a hold of the things I think make most sense & can relate to...then I record it to a good & expressive instrumental.
Klown -
Do you have a job outside your music, & if so what is it?
VECT -
Man I've never been good at keeping a job but I REALLY need 1 right now. I mean as of right now my only income is from music & merch.
Klown -
That's cool that you're living off your music & not in a cardboard box. Shows you must be doing at least some thing right to support yourself like that. How do you see yourself musically in five years?
VECT -
It's really a grind though man....most of the time I don't really make shit. I really do not know...but hopefully more known & helping people out there through the songs & they're really feeling that InVECTion & spreading it, that & gettin' some food on the table & gettin' some bills paid, just taking care of mine ya know?
Klown -
Definitely see what you mean & if you keep doing your thing & making moves, then you'll definitely be doing exactly just that. If you had the chance to sign to a major record label would you take it?
VECT -
Ha! ...I would more then likely tell them to fuck theirselves until they can't ever walk again. Some people have been like "Well you're stupid, how you gonna get heard & paid as well as you would with a major label helping you??" Well uh let's see 1) I don't do this JUST for $, 2) I wouldn't ever let a greedy fucked up image-hungry fraudulent buncha wannabe's put their slimey hands on MY music. I'm too real & diverse for the fuckwad mainstream for 1, & another is my music & myself scare the shit outta most people & make them uncomfortable : ) which doesn't bother me, cuz most people ARE pure goddamn idiots so it ain't for them. I'd prefer to just be nationwide & unsigned....Now don't get me fucked up here, cuz if I had a real real good label come along with AWESOME terms & conditions & we saw eye to eye on just about everything...I'd probably go for it.
Klown -
Definitely can see where you're coming from. If you have enough major labels wanting you, then you're already causing a buzz independently that the mainstream will hear what ya got one way or another. Still good to have all options open tho. What's your feelings towards major labels making the artists they sign make music to put on the radio & turn them from the artist's they was when they signed them?
VECT -
They're complete thieves who have their heads deep up their assholes & don't know a THING about what music is, they just know how to rip people off in a legal way. I wish I could get my hands on a couple of them crooked fucks & sodomize them with a knife while I'd orally rape their daughters : ) The industry has blocked & diluted TOO many artists & turned them into soft whipped sellout sorry fucking jokes....then the other half is absolute toilet humor "claiming" to be good music...they fucking WISH! If I walked up on you with a pizza slice & you seen me cover it in rat poison 1st...would you be stupid enough to take a bite of it? Cuz every time you believe the radio or BET or MTV or VH1...that's exactly what you're doing when you believe their bullshit. It is devastating once you think about it. Only radio I listen to is internet radio, like www.wickedintentradio.net them motherfuckers got some BALLS right there!
Klown -
I agree with you to a point. There are way too many labels pushing the same cookie cutter bullshit on everyone because that's what is "hot" at the moment. What's going to happen to them five years down the road when the flavor of the week changes. You'll see a bunch of shitty acts in debt & living on the streets. What is your opinion on mainstream music, do you like it or not?
VECT-
Well I'm not 1 to really bother paying attention to the mainstream, even with TV. I pretty much see something & laugh at it cuz it's too retarded haha. SO many things in mainstream are stale & unoriginal. Not ALL mainstream sux though, I've often told people "I like about 15% of it, the other 85% is straight up garbage". Some groups, bands, rappers have been hella true with all the fame & $ surrounding them, that ain't a common thing...it's a rarity. I got respect for them shining in the lights if they have respect for their fans, supporters, & theirselves. Don't ever forget who the fuck made you & where your ass came from if you ever make it big....but yeah as I said I hardly listen or watch any music or TV that's in a mainstream network, unless it's some good shit like Simpsons, Married With Children, Cops, Ren & Stimpy, the good shit that hasn't sold out or the older stuff.
Klown -
Damn straight & right on point. What are your feelings on mainstream media & music blaming horrorcore/hardcore rap for stupid shit like school shootings? for example like what the media did with Mars & the Red Lake School shootings cuz they found some of his music lyrics in the kids notebook.
VECT -
That was SUCHA infantile bullshit excuse....that's like a mormon or christian blaming their sins & mistakes on satan, or like when a drunk that killed some people while driving blamed the alcohol. Get the fuck outta here with that skapegoat shit! Man motherFUCK the media & the press! Do you know how much $ they pull in from blowing stories outta porportion & lying to you? Do you know how much extra bullshit they throw in the story to thicken the controversy? Fuck that! I too have had an InVECTion (VECT fan for those who missed it before) do some off the wall crazy shit. This kid was down with me like DAMN, he decked out his myspace profile with my wallpapers, my banners, my lyrics, he even got the V cross tatted on his forearm, he bought & wore VECT shirts, just 111% DOWN with Tha V-E-C-T. This kid was so supportive & represented to the fullest. I talked to him time to time on AIM, he always showed nothing but luv & we always had good convos. Then 1 day his friend hollered at me on myspace with some REALLY shaky news, dude it was so shocking I thought I was gettin' pranked badly. But when I fallowed up on details & the incident report I was fucking blown away. According the report he had killed his gf & attempted to kill himself...luckily he lived through it though. I mean wow, I was saddened & stunned as fuck at the same time. His mother actually contacted me a couple months ago letting me know he's about to do his time in prison & he's still representin' like before. I let her know I appreciated the update & her taking the time to hit me up. But...people are messed up without whatever they watch or listen to, did I try to stab my dad after watching "Pet Cemetary"? NO! Did I blast some shit talkers after listening to "Cop Killers" from Body Count? NO! Sure, I've "thought" about doing some grisly psychopathic shit but I never blamed entertainment for ANY of it! I blame the real creator...society. & if I did any of it I'd blame myself too. Be on the lookout for a song of mine called "Blame Us"....it "might" be on the next album. This'll share where I'm coming from on this.
Klown -
I definitely agree with you on this. Too much shit gets blown out of proportion due to it being so called "violent". I mean hell, did their generation of music get the same shit. To a point yes, that's why some of the artist's got so fuckin' famous but damn. Humans are a fucked up race & do shit that never should be done. It's just how people deal with it, is why we have all this bullshit. I did a good job raising my kid, it must be the music or tv that made him do it. He's an angel, not some fucked up psycho. Only good thing about shit like this is the promotion we get for it. That's the only bright spot out of this. Do you listen to your own music as much as other peoples music?
VECT -
It's a pool of shit man, but we're ALL gonna have to swim in it...or give up & drown. & yeah! Shit I got no shame in my game man, I'm proud of what I do & I ain't afraid to listen to something I'm proud of.
Klown -
That's a very good thing. Especially good bumping it when ya go to do a show to make sure the music is fresh in ya skull. What process do you have for making your music, or is there one?
VECT -
Yeah I let ideas come from what's happening or happened to me, like I said I examine & if I think it's important enough to say...along comes a song. I like to take my time, I hate dropping something without concentrating on it & thinking it through. I got some fans out there craving that new shit from me, but I tell them "Ey...soak up The Archives V.1 for now" (the 3rd & newest album) cuz that's a VERY overlooked album thus far.
Klown -
Definitely, don't wanna rush any kind of music & just release shit. Otherwise you'll be lumped in with all the shitty acts out there that just record shit & toss it on an cd or download & call it a cd. Would you do a song if someone approached you with lyrics and a music concept?
VECT -
It really does vary, but don't get it twisted I'm not some conceited dickwad with a rockstar mentality. I hardly have much of an ego heheh. So yeah...it really does depend on shit.
Klown -
That's cool. Not many people are down for that, saying they don't work with other peoples work & don't want or need a ghostwriter. For anyone out there that wanted to do a collab with you, are you up for it, if so what are your terms, and how do they go about setting that up?
VECT -
Ghostwriters are bitches...yeah I said it, fuck all who do that shit, you don't have to write your own lyrics but to have someone secretly do it for you? What a joke. As for features...they'd have to hit me up & let me know all the details & everything else & we'd see what's happnin'.
Klown -
Is there anyone that you'd deny a colab with or got a beef with?
VECT -
Well yeah I'm a very versatile dude but if I just ain't feeling their music or if I don't think they're serious or they can't do anything for me as well...it won't happen. As for beefs....I have none, & if I do they'll know about it. NOT through a bitchass diss song either!
Klown-
Could you give us a lil inside info on what you got instore for us in the months to come?
VECT -
Well...there's nothing in concrete so please don't quote me. But yeah there's some artists I plan on gettin' on board with musically, POSSIBLE projects or compilations but like I just said: don't quote me. I really take things 1 step at a time & only then do I know anything for sure. Will there be another VECT album? Definitely! Do I know when it'll be done? Fuck no! Do I try to elaborate on things I don't know shit about? Never....So just keep your eyes on news & bulletins from myspace or even hit me up when you really wanna know the deal on some news.
Klown -
What is the legacy you'd like to leave behind you when it's all over with?
VECT -
I'd like to bring another element to horrorcore music, I wanna bring more of a diversity to it. As most might know I don't JUST do horrorcore, I also do hardcore rap, hip-hop & metal. I'd like to leave a big print on 1/or all of the genres I do. I really just wanna be deeply & thoroughly listened to...there's nothing that explains & defines me better then the songs I make. I really can't narrate myself & talk about the shit I experienced & believe in like I do in the songs as opposed to an actual conversation....there's just no topping that. Until then I'm seeking recognition anywhere I can & I kiss no ass to be accepted, aut disce aut discede (latin for "learn or leave").
Klown -
Nice, definitely be something to be remembered for that. Always keeping it real & making music you enjoy that hopefully will help & give enjoyment to everyone else. What advice do you have for anyone just getting into the music scene or wanting to get into it?
VECT -
Remember 1 thing for me: music is NOT for everyone to do, but it IS for everyone to enjoy. Not everyone needs to try to make music, sometimes people don't know their talents are in something else....wasted talent is really sad shit to me...so find it & use it! But anyways...there's a lot I can say about people gettin' into doing music. 1) don't think or act like you're the fucking bomb, nobody wants to hear how dope you are & how better you are...seriously get over yourself. Let the listeners decide on that shit, & if they find you as awesome as you think you are...congrats, don't let it go to your head. 2) Take your time, don't go rushing into it like it's a homework assignment. Practice & don't run into something cuz ya know what happens? Ya run into something cuz you weren't focused & concentrated. 3) don't be doing this shit just to get $ there's plenty of other ways to make some fucking $...don't abuse music, the industry does a fine enough job doing that already, & don't be doing it to get attention or be a nut-hugger.
Klown -
Damn man, one of the best answers I've ever had to this question & definitely hit right on the button. Where can fans hook up to, download or buy your music or merch?
VECT -
I really only have 1 place as of right now, a huge reason I'm not on redrummedia.com is because I've been fucked over by having my stuff in stores before just in Vegas, so I'm very skeptical about who sells what. Though my opinion is slowly changing on having them on there I still will have to see what happens. Redrummedia needs to holler back at me because so far they haven't...but yeah soon enough I SHOULD have all albums available on some sites, more then likely also on www.killmusick.com...but I guarantee nothing. HOWEVER, you can always order your merch through www.myspace.com/vecteezy that's the main & official spot to cop some shit or hit me up on. You'll find shirts & stickers & albums, etc. Place yourself an order & let me know what's up if ya have any questions.
As for the free dl's, you'll find 'em on www.myspace.com/vecteezy www.isound.com/vect & www.soundclick.com/vect. Keep in mind though if you download from myspace to always label your downloads AFTER you've dl'd them...otherwise the song won't be complete.
There's also that free compilation called "Pure Horror & Wicked Intent Radio Presents - Tales From The Underground" you'll find 2 songs from myself on there too. It's free so hit that up on wickedintentradio.net under the news I believe...& should be available on purehorror.net under the compilations section.

VECT -
This life man....I examine & look at everything in my life & I grab a hold of the things I think make most sense & can relate to...then I record it to a good & expressive instrumental.
Klown -
Do you have a job outside your music, & if so what is it?
VECT -
Man I've never been good at keeping a job but I REALLY need 1 right now.
