I just noticed that z95.7 was changed to 95.7 The Vibe...and the format is all Urban instead of Top 40.

ABOUT FUCKING TIME

Someone to compete with 103 and make them step their game up.

The question I have is....

Do you think this will help get Tech more radio play in Kansas City?

If it isn't infested with haters, hopefully it will get tech more radio play. 103.3 is garbage 9 times outta 10 when I've tuned in. Competition should definitely benefit the listeners.

I agree...it is a new ownership and the entire Z95 staff seems to have been let go and they are running without any jocks right now as far as i know.

Z95 staff was garbage anyway with the exception of Shorty in the afternoon.

Someone should contact thier marketing department and see about getting them to do a local artists hour once a week. Hell they might do it if someone would sponsor it or even just suggest it. KC has lots of artists that they could use for a "local spotlight" once a week show. That would get thier ratings up for certain, it would also create a buzz about the station, and put thier competition in thier ratings rear view mirror

just a thought

Well, how it goes in Detroit, where we have two urban stations, is that they both play radio garbage all day long.. Like total bullshit that you would hear on the top 40 anyways, so it's garbage. But, at night, 102.7 plays underground shit, and 97.9 plays like techno..

So, i'd guess Tech could get some play at night, but I'm not sure about day.. But, who knows actually.. I know one of the songs that blew up around here is the trick trick song, and he's a local cat. So, I guess it could happen. I did hear Tech a couple times on the radio when I'm A Playa and Imma Tell was getting airplay, though.

Up here in Utah, (yes we have a urban station), they do a thing where hey play local songs, crunk or junk or something... well sometimes its local... and thats all we get... But its better than anything, so maybe you could suggest something like that.

If it's infinity or Viacom it won't matter. They won't play local. At least not for more than a few weeks.

No jocks is a regular for a format change, but even though they're looking to fight for the rap format, one will eventually change to a more contemporary R&B station with a little hip-hop on it. It's happened here in new york recently.

Hot 97 and Power 105 battled, and when 105 came on it seemed like the best station. More oldschool hits, less jock rambling, better dj's... but eventually it just wound up playing mostly R&B. Even KRock changed formats from whatever you would call that "indie" bullshit (White Stripes) mixed with old shit you've heard a thousand times (Chili Peppers) format to the "We play kick ass rock" format (from Guns, to Floyd, to AC/DC, to newer shit like Staind and Mudvayne) and fell to the fact that Howard wasn't on it.

Commercial radio is commercial radio. The only time I get to hear local shit out here in NY is when I listen to college radio stations. I know there are some "Long Island" type rock stations out here, but we don't have any "Long Island" type rap stations... If that's a serious local KC rap station, then the only reason you can't get Tech played on it is because you aren't trying hard enough.

They would maybe have a local show on Sunday night or something for a few hours.

I don't listened to the radio much anymore. However, I am willing to give it a listen, especially since they've changed the format. Let's just hope they stick with it.

Whatever happened to the Boilng Point?
(Hot 103, Satudays @ Midnight Hosted by Don Juan)

There was another radio show on 90.1 KKFI that played some rap. I think it was called Massive Mondays. Forgot who hosted it though(maybe Cool Wayne, but I could be wrong).

AfterSpot was good too, except the time slot wasn't that great, Fridays 3-6 AM(hosted by Cool Wayne)
