So, the streets have been fiendin' for some Z-Ro info lately. As you know, he was reportedly locked up and slapped with a four-year sentence. Amidst widespread speculation about his release, I tracked down Ro's cousin Trae to find out what the real deal is.

A day before I met with Trae, someone had sent me some info detailing Z-Ro's situation. (Shout out to you). According to the info I received, Ro's maximum sentence date will keep him behind bars till June 2010, even though his "projected release date" is May 2008. If this info is anything to go by, Ro is also eligible for parole in December, 2006.

I ran the paper through Trae during his DUB photoshoot (Trae and Chamillionaire will feature in the next issue of DUB), and here's what transpired:

SOHH Rizoh: Someone sent me this [paper] and from what I can tell, Z-Ro is supposed to be out in 2008.
Trae: Two thousand-what!!!??? He's eligible for parole in December, right?

SOHH Rizoh: That's what the paper says.
Trae: Right now...he'll be home soon. F**k what the paper says. Real talk, he'll be home soon. Just remember that. It ain't gon' be in 2008.

SOHH Rizoh: Hopefully not. What exactly did he go in for anyway?
Trae: Some of that stuff is really personal, man. But, the point is they were stopped and the search didn't go right, man. My little brother is in there with him right now, too.

SOHH Rizoh: You think the cops might have been profiling him?
Trae: The bad part is that it was the Black cop. The other cops weren't really trippin' but the Black part was the one that was really trippin' about it.

Now, I also find it interesting that he was arrested by "the black cop." I'm not saying he should have gotten away with whatever it was (my guess is controlled substance). But, it just strikes me that the HPD probably has a Hip-Hop Police squad like their NY and LA counterparts. I don't know, maybe it's the Notorious C.O.P. book, which I just started reading, that's triggering these thoughts.

Anyhow, stay tuned for the full transcript of my session with Trae...sometime next week. For now, feel free to speak on the Z-Ro situation. Do you think he'll be ready to jump back in the rap game once he's out? Where the "Free Z-Ro" tees at?

AND

Houston bred rapper Z-Ro is currently incarcerated for possession of a controlled substance charge, according to an arrest report obtained by SOHH.

As previously reported, Z-Ro (born Joseph Wayne Mcvey) has been locked up for the past months and no one, including his label, Rap-A-Lot Records, had an idea why the rapper was in captivity.

SOHH contacted the Holiday Unit Transfer Facility, where Z-Ro is currently incarcerated and they confirmed this info, adding that his projected release date is May 3rd, 2008 and that he is eligible for parole on December 13, 2006.

Trae, Z-Ro's cousin and label mate, believes the rapper will be out in a little while.

"F**k what the paper says," Trae told SOHH in a recent interview. "He'll be home soon. Just remember that. It ain't gon' be in 2008."

Trae refused to specify what Z-Ro was caught with but revealed his brother was also arrested along with this cousin.

"Some of that stuff is really personal, man, "explained Trae." But, the point is they were stopped and the search didn't go right, man. My little brother is in there with him right now, too."

As SOHH previously reported, Z-Ro was slated to drop an album this month. It is unknown whether the untitled project will hit shelves anytime soon.
