Two new DVDs, Hyphy Exposed and Wildest Sideshows Uncensored, explore the uglier side of the Bay Area phenomenon known as hyphy.
Most of the country has become familiar with hyphy through entertaining videos like E-40's "Tell Me When To Go," which show the spastic dancing and car tricks that make up a large part of hyphy sideshows.
But according to DVD producer Drop Knock, there is another side to hyphy that not everyone is aware of.
"Things ain't always sweet in the street," said Drop Knock via a statement. "Sometimes you either gotta get cashed out or smashed out."
Hyphy Exposed and Wildest Sideshows Uncensored shows the aspects of hyphy that casual fans never get to see, capturing the explicit and violent side of the movement. Smashing car windows, stomping SUV hoods, and other lawless acts are among the uncensored scenes caught on film.
In related news, E-40 is planning to release his own hyphy-driven DVD, Hype on Hyphy.
Hyphy Exposed and Wildest Sideshows Uncensored will hit stores May 16.
