new computer -advice and input welcome

i am planning to buy a new computer for myself this christmas.
some of the things i am wrestling with are:

pc vs. apple
laptop vs desktop

my usage will consist of word processing, pictures, web surfing, and gaming.

any input will be appreciated. i am leaning tword an apple at the moment because of the service and i dont want viruses written for Microsoft.

^^^^true that, but if youz a lazy mahfukah then just buy the most expensive HP, dell used to be on point back in the 90's but mass production fucked their shit up in the cheap continents......FUCK APPLE, and remmeber that laptops are a bitch to upgrade, but a desktop, you can always add shit.

FYI new apple ibooks and possibly mac minis with intel processors (which apple has recently switched over to from IBM ones) will drop in january so you might want to hold off a bit.

Yeah i have noticed that everyone that I know who has a dell hates it. I have an old 900mhz HP and my parents have a new dell with a 3ghz p4 and more ram but mine is still faster. I have been thinking about building my own pc but is it better to buy all of the parts seperate or should I buy a barebone system?
