some South Bay phone customers will start being assigned area code 669 by the end of next year.

all good, whatever, but 666 would of really put the south bay on the map!

It isn't as if 408 was carved out during Old Testament times. The entire Bay Area once shared what is now San Francisco's tony 415 area code. For people in San Jose before that change was made in 1959, 408 always seemed like 415's slightly less cool little brother.

Kind off topic but for awhile the whole greater Seattle area was 206 area code. Up in the Lynnwood area (about 20 mins north of Seattle) a gang of mostly rejects started up a set and called it 206 and like a month later they changed the area code to 425. I went to school with a lot of them and told one "so I guess you guys have to change your gang name now huh?" and he was like "nah man, we talked about it and we are going to still call it 206 because it sounds better than 425" I looked down and there was a 206 tatt on his arm and I was like "you sure it was just because you didn't want to have to change your tatt?" lol Kid got pissed and walked away talking about "this will always be 206."
